That's about the right number for me.

The US is different. We don't send girls home when their skirt is too long. In France you get harassed if you're wearing a kippeh, a hijab, whatever. The French are assholes and we've all known this since the dawn of France.

The line at the only place in my neighborhood with decent decent shawarma and falafel is already maddeningly long.

I'll give this to them, though. The French don't stone women to death and drag their bodies behind Toyota 4Runners for exposing their ankles.

You honestly think folks don't get harassed for that in the US? Even in 2015, in places on the right side of history, it happens. Also, Quebec has a similar ban in place and guess what? It's the landing spot for huge numbers of French speaking immigrants from the ME.

France belongs to the French, and the French culture belongs in France.

If the terrorists don't like how the French live, they should not be living in France.

Further, if Muslems don't like the French way of life, they should not live in France or try to impose their culture upon the French.

What right do the people historically known as the French have to impose their culture on France?

It is worse in France than anywhere else in the Western world.

Also, what does things like that happening here have to do with anything? It shouldn't happen anywhere in the world.

So then why would refugees want to go to the region historically known as France?

Do I really need to unpack the conversation for you to answer this asinine question?

Lots of stuff shouldn't happen anywhere in the world, except maybe St. Louis.

From my understanding & experierence the degree to and frequency with which it happens in the US really pales in comparison to what people go through in France where it's almost at systemic levels -- job applications, appointments at government agencies, different required services, all are affected because of the name or appearance of applicant. You simply can't have that in the US (it probably does exist, and perhaps affects different types of minorities but I don't see it as endemic here, maybe I'm wrong).

Anyway I think the misunderstanding between you and Ethan comes down to contextualizing vs assigning blame/cause&effect. His statement goes toward explaining why it happened it France and not, say, Germany, not and nothing more. At least that's how I interpreted what he said.
