They don't get anything out of that. The more Europe feels threatened the more ordinance they're going to send to Syria. AQ, on the other hand, cannot be isolated for bombing in the same way that ISIS can. If you try and bomb AQ in Syria you're going to hit a bunch of other groups with varying interaction with the West and its allies. That's why I say AQ has cover that ISIS does not.
France is also active in the fight against them, so it could be retaliation like the russian plane, which means the UK and we are next.

Who knows if this is true though.
The interesting one is going to be Germany, they have an election coming up for "state governors", which has already resulted in a stabbing/murder.
