@dilly12 I think it looks great. It's definitely slimmer and longer than the classic MA-1 silhouette, but I think it works.

any plans for a return of the fishtail or other coats?

Big drop coming towards the end of the summer for F/W.

Is there any chance you'll have a puffier version of the nylon/wool MA-1 for F/W?

I guess you'll have to wait and see.

Received MA-1 today, quality and details are awesome, I'm very happy for the price. Unfortunately patterning could use some work, and I think even if I went with recommended measurements it would be off from what I would want in the jacket so probably letting it go. For those on the fence, it is great and should fit the bill for most people here. To give some context, I'm probably about to spend a ton more for something marginally better. I would highly recommended Falcon for the level of quality and detail provided. I really like the fabric selection, the padding is slim but still is nicely baffled. I will let my pictures do the talking. I plan to upload more if I list the jacket for sale. I'm tempted to go m2m to get my recommendation and see if how I envision the fit working out, but am not sure how well it would translate. Also, for those on the fence about ordering, do without shoulder gussets. I'm super happy there was an option to remove, and I believe this is a no-brainer.

Only other minor gripe was zipper is semi concealed on arm office, which makes it blend in a little too well to the jacket. I imagine having exposed zipper tape could make it pop a bit more, but this comes down to design.

Some notes on sizing:
I'm 6'1.5" 165ish lbs

Recommended for my build:
shoulders 18.0"
chest (pit-to-pit) 21.5"
waist 20.2"
body length, front 24.0"
body length, back 26.5"
sleeve length, from shoulder 26.8"
sleeve width @ pit 7.6"
sleeve width @ elbow 6.7"
sleeve width @ cuff 5.6"

Ordered a Size 50:
shoulders 18.0"
chest (pit-to-pit) 22.4"
waist 21"
body length, front 23.5"
body length, back 26.2"
sleeve length, from shoulder 26.5"
sleeve width @ pit 7.8"
sleeve width @ elbow 6.7"
sleeve width @ cuff 5.5"

What I would consider to improve fitment:
shoulders 17.45"
chest (pit-to-pit) 22.75"
waist 21"
body length, front 22.5"
body length, back 25.75"
sleeve length, from shoulder 26.5"
sleeve width @ pit 8"
sleeve width @ elbow 7"
sleeve width @ cuff 6.2"

Could you elaborate on the patterning and why you suggest going without the shoulder gussets?

hmm, interesting insights. Thanks for the review. Are you looking to get a Rick bomber? Just guessing

Also, is the exposed zipper something you will offer in the future Charly?

Shoulder gussets- they add mobility but also bulk and lose the streamlined c shape back that is synonymous with most MA-1s. If you're going for a trad look there is no reason to have gussets other than adding mobility, but you sacrifice the classic silhouette. The Falcon design also has shoulder darts which is important, so there really is no major need for shoulder gussets.

Patterning- Focusing on my fit and the other user's so far there are a couple things that stood out to me, this by no means suggests what I believe in being applicable for everybody.
-Shoulders are too broad and the shoulder seam defines the drape of the jacket.

Here is a good example of a slim ma-1. If you bring in the shoulders a bit, and there is enough room in the armpit area, it will bring down the seam and soften the shoulder:

-Body is too long. I'm actually curious what the actual measurements are but the body length seems way too long. I imagine if the fit was very slim and uniform the extra length is okay, but it sits a little awkwardly low. Ideally it would cut right below the beltline, but in the front it seems much longer although this might be based on what people want and my height.

-Forearms too slim. I think right after the elbow it slims down dramatically so you get kinda a poof effect that holds the volume above the elbow. Anything below the elbow is real slim, so you lose the balloon effect from the ma-1 arms, it seems too taper is drastic at the elbow and cuts the flow of the arm.

Not really trying to be nitpicky here, it is a lot better than I am making it out to be, but IMO could use some work in the fitment if they want to knock it out of the park.

Edit: No rick bomber, although I've considered it in the past.

Got a DR5 in brown lambskin and very pleased with it. Went the 'Trust Charly' route on measurements, even though I was tempted to meddle...glad I didn't, since this turned out near perfect.

Communication was excellent and time taken from order to delivery was around three weeks.

The first picture accurately represents the colour…the feel and heft of the jacket is substantial….it is soft, luxurious and very supple.

I was a bit alarmed when the lapels refused to lay flat at first but charly reckons they will settle with wear…and they have to a great extent (I thought of securing them with some double sided tape or blu tack….but that might just damage the leather.

Must say that I was impressed by my first purchase from Falcon….if I can help it, it certainly won't be the last.

I don't think I will ever wear this jacket fully zipped as when I did that, one comment I got was "Star Trek".

Looks good, although brown is an uncommon choice for a DR. And yes lack of snaps/"flappiness" of the lapels is what puts me off of the DR5, although the design is amazing.

Couldn't Falcon just put in hidden snaps at the back of the lapels?

Ive worn this for just a little over a day now….and the lapels have settled….they sit flat against the chest now…so I think it's not a concern.
