Take all of the guns. All of them. - Page 39

All you have to do is outsmart them back. It's just that not many people in government are doing anything at all (because the rich fund their campaigns, etc.). By saying the rich always get away with whatever they want regardless, or that we shouldn't do anything, you are literally handing away your own democracy. What happened to all the goddamn patriots in America?

Read this: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/17/business/putting-numbers-to-a-tax-increase-for-the-rich.html?smid=tw-nytimes&smtyp=cur&_r=0

We need to go back to 1960s tax rates, if we want a stronger society (which directly relates to a stronger economy). The more you let the super-rich keep, the more monopolies you see, and you lose democracy and sovereignty (let alone social security and improvements to the country).

Completely different words, whoops-a-daisy Piobaire. And, I am a lefty from Canada; I lived there for years.

WTF are you babbling about? Seriously, are you drunk?

Apparently living in Canadia for 3 years makes you a Canadian. Interesting.

JapanAlex who was born in the UK but is actually Canadian by virtue of the 3 years he spent there.

I'm truly baffled at his babble over nationalism vs. nationalizing an industry. I would try and figure out what's going on inside that empty cavity of a cranium but I might get scared at what I find.

Also, his "analysis" of the macro economy from post-WWII into the seventies, and pulling out one or two variables he disagrees with to hang his hat on is beyond ludicrous. I mean, I'm sure the Marshall plan and the fact the US was the only major power with an intact industrial complex, had absolutely no bearing on the middle class prosperity in the US for the 20 years post war.

JA: We need higher tax rates for the rich just like we used to.

HB: Higher rate don't lead to the rich paying more.
JA: Here's a graph showing tax rates proving tax rates were higher once

Did I summarize that correctly?

Also, does taking the guns have something to do with taxes?  Are we talking about a gun tax based on income?

JapanAlex, please look up the 1986 tax reforms on Google a non-evil web browser.

He is a citizen of the world...

And any thought that lefties always put rational thought in front of nationalism is totally debunked, as I said, by discussing healthcare policy with a Canadian lefty. They get all hyper-nationalistic when presented with concrete data that the Canadian system is anything less than perfect.

Ethan, I'm also surprised you didn't comment on the fact JA seems to be unsure about your stance on guns.

Extremes on both sides are always more about narrative than reality. That's why they're extreme

Yes. You got that exactly right.

So if we just raised the tax rate to 100%, we could really take advantage of this whole "rich getting richer" trend, right?

JapanAlex, you need more than your hand held? You write as though you think you are not capable of peeing into the toilet by yourself because your mommy has convinced you that she is the only one who can hold your wee wee and aim it so all the piss goes into the toilet. Don't you think it is time to tell mommy that you can handle it yourself and to keep her hands off. Until you take control of your life you will be a liberal. Liberals are worse than those who need there hand held.

All my left-libertarian/far-left e-friends like guns. Resistance against the state and the bourgouise. Still baffles me that JapanAlex doesn't like guns, it goes against far-left ideology.

Also, Hitler didn't take anyone's guns, that was the Wiemar Republic. Although he didn't let the sub-humans Jews and other undesirables have any when he loosened restrictions.

JA isn't a far lefty in the classical sense of far-left equals anarchy.  On a classical political chart, he's on the far right - he's very authoritarian.
