Funny how folks get all hibbildy jibbildy when the tallyban or al kida chop off someones hand for thievin' but then get all fuck ya about gunnin' down shoplifters

Clearly, despite the fact that we've put a man on the moon, cured small pox, and built a machine that can beat a chess master at his own game, nothing could possibility be done about this. Or so certain defeatist pricks would have you believe.
Personally, I still believe in American exceptionalism and believe that something could be done to improve in some manner gun safety, while still preserving our right to keep and bear arms. Which I firmly believe in (and practice my self).

And cue all the internet tough guys saying how those fucking kids brought it on them selves.

I just read that an hour ago. We're just dumb.

The responses from the pro-gun lobby about biometric sensors are incredible. A proposal to spend more money on developing biometrics turns into this whole rant about how it's going to imperil lives and lead to government registration and confiscation and obviously there's no way any President who wasn't a gun-hating fascist could possibly even consider it. They're just trying to develop new technology FFS.

If you can't even stand to see people study a concept, you might be a zealot.

Perhaps if the political party whose president is funding this research with taxpayer dollars didn't also intend to pass laws requiring the technology on new guns for civilian use...?

I find it incredible that you can believe requiring an ID to vote is a racist pretext, requiring a woman to be informed of the consequences of an abortion is a pretext to deny women their rights, etc., etc., and not even understand how others see this as a pretext...

You know, there are two hundred or so other countries out there. Is our gun lobby preventing them from developing and using these so-called smart guns, too?

If the technology could be developed to the point where it was reliable enough to trust (and that may never be possible), what's the harm there? Seems like responsible gun owners would want to be able to buy guns that could only be fired by approved users.

Look at that neat assortment of red herrings.

The US manufacturers a shit ton of guns and makes a shit ton of money doing it. Why rely on the rest of the world to develop the technology? We have enough accidental shootings and shooting involving stolen guns to justify developing the technology, foreclosing it because paranoids are worried about a slippery slope to NO GUNS FOR ANYONE isn't rational.

Except that the goal of these people is complete confiscation of guns. I have no desire to listen to anything they have to say after that. They are disqualified from the conversation.

If you don't have a vagina, you can't have an opinion on abortion or women's health issues. If you don't own a gun, you can't have an opinion about gun control.

So who is allowed?

I think people don't realize the front line consequence of biometrics: the MSM/left will lose their biggest anti-gun talking point which is the thought your own gun will be used against you.
It would mean cops can't use the "he was trying to grab my gun!" as a reason to shoot (black) people.

What will biometrics do for the 300 million non-biometric guns already out there, besides make them more desirable to criminals?

That's a flat out lie. But by repeating it enough times you effectively shut down any rational conversation.

Its insane to think that we have the best possible rules and regulations concerning guns and gun ownership. There HAS to be room for improvement, even if it is only incremental improvement.

But hey, feel free to shove your fingers in your ears and scream " hurr durr!!!!" and pretend you're making a valid point.

Nothing, what would a cancer vaccine do for all those already sick? I guess we should reject any attempts at finding one then.

Why is this totally defeatist attitude so popular?
