This is solipsistic nonsense. Everything one does, privately or otherwise, affects all of society.

Apologies my BA was some time ago, so this is a wiki:

"The methodological solipsist believes that subjective impressions (Empiricism) or innate knowledge (Rationalism) are the sole possible or proper starting point for philosophical construction"

Sounds good to me! wink.gif

Seriously tho how does a dude owning a gun and going target shooting Saturdays (eg a neighbor) "affect" me??

You allowing him to own a gun creates a gun industry creates a way for crazy people to easily gets guns creates rooms full of dead kids.

Honest question for American posters. Do you think guns will resist a tyrannical government armed with semi-autonomous drones, tanks, soldiers with superior marksmanship and the like?

LOL. Round up all the brass out there? Stop saying things we can't take seriously!

I think the easiest solution here for you is just to declare we need to make people illegal.

If the only guns we owned were 12 gauge double barrel shotguns I doubt seriously doubt we would even be having this discussion

Do you believe blowing a hole in another human being is always the wrong action? If not then guns are not inherently immoral so there's no rub.

Not comparable. Knives have other uses, a gun's only purpose is to kill.

so what the hell else would you use a sword for? buttering toast?

take all of the swords. all of them.

Those clay pigeons I shoot every few weekends were going to die on impact with the ground anyway.

Your argument that guns aren't just made for killing is that they are also made for pretend killing? Really?

Either way in my gun free leftist utopia you would be able to go to ranges and either rent a gun or store your own along with its ammunition. You would not be allowed to leave the property with any gun or ammunition.

Swords are pretty useful for opening Champagne bottles.
