Everyone wants to bomb someone without a trial.

Is anyone monitoring DU? I imagine they must be bleeding out their ears.

This is interesting. Both the ranchers went to trial, were sentenced, and served their time. Somehow, after all this, they were resentenced and given more time due to a 1996 law Bill Clinton signed (Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996) requiring a five year minimum for a crime against government property.

It's a really shitty sitch they are in. But it should be noted they are not participating in this action, they kicked these guys off their property which is why the nuts had to go take a ranger station. This started as a rally to support the ranchers but is now just a publicity stunt.

EDIT - And the way the government has been treating the ranchers is fucking despicable. This started as an eminent domain fight.

Mandatory minimums are only bad when they are for drug crimes.  I'm sure the DU folks will be cheering that.

Don't worry, they're white terrorists.

Edit: You should worry about all these white terrorists.  I meant "Don't worry, they'll be properly labeled as domestic/white terrorists by DU and Harris-Perry.

I logged onto FB for the first time in two weeks and was greeted with eleventy billion posts exactly like what you guys said would happen in DU, etc.

"In 2004, under George W. Bush, the feds prosecuted 8,752 federal gun-violation cases. In 2013, under this gun-grab administration, the feds prosecuted 5,082 cases — a decline of 42 percent.  So who’s kidding whom here? Obama, Holder, Lynch et al. have zero interest in enforcing the existing gun statutes because they’re violated in large measure by illegal aliens, gangbangers, drive-by shooters, street muggers and fifth-generation welfare layabouts — in other words, the core constituencies of the Democratic Party. Do any of these Obama voters get their weapons at gun shows? If you’ve ever been to a gun show, you damn well know the answer to that question."

Was chatting with an associate at lunch. This person is pretty liberal, always going on against minimum sentencing laws not allowing judges to exercise their discretion. Oddly she is suddenly law and order with the ranchers getting more time.

People are so transparent.

So what was it that got the Gov. all hot and bothered enough to come after the ranchers and re sentence them?
All I can find is "federal prosecutors" decided to appeal the sentencing as they wanted more. They found a sympathetic judge on the 9th circuit (Wait. Wut? The 9th Circuit had a judge that threw the book at conservative white men? Wow, didn't see that coming). She (the judge) went so far as to call them "eco-terrorists."

Both CNN and Huffington are running pieces calling it terrorism. They aren't alone, I'm sure. I don't recall any of the looters, rioters or violent criminals in Ferguson getting the terrorism label - including the family member of Michael Brown who stood on a car shouting "let's burn this bitch down."

This is a pretty good chronicling of the entire issue. Towards the end it has news articles about the US Attorney who challenged the original sentencing and her own stalking scandal.

The link has mostly been composed by the Bundy kid and even though his actions are moronic, he does a good job of putting together the info revolving around this.
