Your most recent awkward moment - Page 5

Back in college working at a drug store: beautiful woman walks up to my cash register. She asks me if I have been breathing properly lately. I exhale, realizing I've been holding my breath since I laid eyes on her from 20 feet away.

On an airplane (of course) at the height of MS's antitrust trial: I'm at the window, guy next to me, woman on the aisle seat. Middle guy starts conversation...let's jump to the point: I say I've just got done teaching a class on the economics of regulation and antitrust. Woman in aisle seat works for Microsoft and proceeds to badger me about the case. I try to beg off discussing it but she persists and I finally have to say "With all due respect, suffice it to say that we have different opinions on this matter." She finally leaves me alone. Guy in the middle looks really embarrased.

Back in college: rode the metro going home drunk, ran out of the train to throw up, but got puke all over my shirt. Went back in. Oh, and it was rush hour, too.

Hmmm... slightly off-topic, but that reminds me of catching the bus home with a couple of friends after a night of drinking whilst at university.

The bus ride was about 40 minutes long, and it was winter, and it was quite cold. About 15 minutes into the journey, one of my friends realised that he was quite desperate to take a pee. After suffering for another ten minutes, he ran down to the front of the bus, asked the driver to stop, dashed out of the bus and behind a rather small bush by the side of the road, and let fly. Regrettably, he failed to consider the fact that his position allowed him to be fully illuminated by the headlights of approaching cars...

Suffice to say that there was a deathly silence when he got back on to the bus for the remainder of the ride home.

So, I had received a very good offer from the company I was beginning to work for.

We had a large group gathering of all the newly hired folks.

Woman comes up to me, starts talking about pay for some reason. Says she's jealous of people at some other firm. Says her friend at other firm is making XX,XXX.

Well, XX,XXX was far less than half my starting pay.

The look on my face just gave it away. I was fucking shocked that she would have accepted an offer making that. Or that she thought what he was making was anything other than poverty.

So she says, I uhh..guess you're making more than that.

Awkward.

back in college when i was younger and ever more beautiful...

i had a cold one day and i was coughing and blowing my nose all day, and i was at the university mercantile area for something hot to eat and drink.

a very beautiful older woman comes walking towards my table, smiling, and asks if i wanted to volunteer in something.
she sat right next to me and looking me in the eye, asked if i wanted to be an extra or something ( i forgot ) they were filming and needed some volunteers.

immediately after she said that her smile disappeared, and seemed aloof and uninterested , while i was responding back to her.
she got up and said never mind and walked away.

bewildered why such a lovely lady would come sit right next to me and then immediately change her behaviour and walk away from me as soon as she can, later, i went into the men's restroom and looked in the mirror,

and lo and behold ,

there was a HUGE WHITE BOOGER HANGING VERY CONSPICUOUSLY OUTSIDE MY LEFT NOSTRIL ALL THAT TIME.

All good contributions. This happened to someone I know, not me. A friend of mine is a wedding photographer and was doing formals at a park outside a museum one day. He got there a few minutes before the wedding party, and really had to take a leak. He wanted to go into the museum, but it was closed due to a holiday. Finally he decided to go around back and take a leak in the bushes since there were no other nearby buildings. As he's doing his business, a limo pulls up behind him, the window rolls down, and the bride yells out "Hey *****, is that you?!" Suffice it to say the bride wasn't the only one blushing.

Not too recently but it happened this summer, my fiance and I were talking about something which caused me to sing part of DVDA's America (FUCK YEAH!). What happened afterwards was not so much embarrassing for me as it was for her (but I thought it was cute). She started with the song also and said "Fuck Ya" instead of "Fuck Yeah" so I let it slide then she came in with an "America Fuck You!" and I stopped and stared at her. She had no idea that the expression "Yeah" and "ya," as in you, were totally different. Being as English is not natural for her I understood her position, but still laughed. No, not at the fact that English may be difficult, more at the fact she practically yelled "America! Fuck You!" which could have been quite embarrassing if it were to happen in the US.

Ok, so my sister's wedding was in May - I brought my girlfriend at the time. We had only been taking a couple of months - long enough that we were attending each other's family functions but certainly not long enough to be really "serious"

Anyway, my family is very friendly and welcoming, introducing her to everyone, sharing stories with her and treating her like one of the fam'. They insisted that my girlfriend and my brother's girlfriend even join in on many of the "group" photos of the event.

So that was May. We split in August. I brought a new girl to Thanksgiving dinner at my cousin's house which led to two rather embarrassing moments....

First one - my cousin is kinda stuffy. We have a big extended family (about 30-40 people) so she insists on "assigned seating" with placeholders with names on them.... the place card for my date had my ex-girlfriend's name on it.

Second one - as this was the first big family event since the wedding, my sister decided to bring her collection of wedding photos on a DVD photo album to share. For about an hour everyone piled into the living room to look at the album on the big 60" TV. My girlfriend had to sit through dozens of photos of me with my ex-girlfriend at the wedding while (my apparently oblivious) family is saying things about my ex-girlfriend in the photos like "look how pretty she is" and "awww they look so cute together" .... I don't think my face has ever been more red than it was as I had to sit through that.

Not really, no one got hit in the nuts. Maybe if there was an obviously scripted fall....

I went to a local show/concert last night cause my friends band was playing. The last act to play was just a solo acoustic thing. Before the guy started playing he put a shirt over his face for some reason. So I left on the account that he couldn't possibly see me. After the show he came up and said "Thanks for coming" to me and my friend. There was a really long silence and my friend just goes "what's up"

I'll preface this with saying I am nearly blind without my glasses, and as with most good stories it starts with downing a dozen beer and some shots.

I was at a Christmas party a few years ago and got picked up by a woman. We ended up at a friend of hers apartment. We fell asleep on the couch. I woke up thinking I had made it to a friend's place, which I know well enough to walk around without my glasses on.

I started towards the bathroom and walked into a glass coffee table. It shattered everywhere.

The worst part was that my glasses where on the table and I could not find them in the pile of broken glass. The woman whose apartment it was comes out and sees her coffee table smashed and starts yelling at me. I had no idea what her name was or where I was. I had to wait for the woman I was with to find my glasses for me before I could leave.

I've approached women several times in bars, thinking they were waitresses and asking them to get me some beer.
