What should every man have in his x room?

What should every man have in his Bathroom? Bedroom? Kitchen? List even the most obvious and simple things, as it is the simple commonplace things people tend to overlook. To begin with: Bathroom: Shaving set: Razor, Badger Hair Shaving Brush, Pre-shave oil, Shaving oil, After shave balm/oil, Shaving Bowl, Alum block Shampoo (I use anti-dandruff shampoo because I need it) Body Wash + towel (is there a better way?) Face Wash (with mositurizer, no oil) Cologne: Aquaman, Aqua Di Gio, multiple samples Vitamins: Flax Seed Oil, Multivitamin, Calcium Cup (for water to down vitamins), Toothpaste, Toothbrush (I'm considering a machinated toothbrush over regular one) Scale (I use a Tanita) Stereo (I listen to music in shower) And the "duh" ones are: shower, toilet, cabinets, shower curtain/slider, sink Bedroom: Probably a chore I'll save for later Kitchen: One thing that stands out is a tea set (tea, infuser, kettle, teaspoon, tea cups, tea honey).

Bedroom: A really good mattress. I bought a nice one several years ago, after many years of sleeping on bargain basement matresses. Can't believe how much more comfortable it is. Den/Office: A really comfortable reclining chair. After many months of searching, I found a wonderfully comfortable recliner/ottoman combo that is great for reading, relaxing, etc. My favorite spot in the house. I also have a nice Aeron work chair that is easy on my back for those long hours in front of my home computer. Kitchen: Good pans Good knives Bosch Mixer

Kai, One thing that you need in the bedroom are a few really nice down pillows. The merits of shopping around: I needed some new pillows, because mine had turned flat from use. A department store in the mall sold some nicer Serta pillows at $90-110 each. Later that week, my dad was at Sam's Club (Wholesale Club, Costco, similar concept) and they had the same exact pillows; a 2-pack was $20. They even said 'Compare at $90 each'. What a deal.

Also Kai, I echo your statement about quality kitchen ware. For this fall, I had to purchase all the utensils, tools, and cookware for my first kitchen. I bought Wusthof and Henckels (german-made, not chinese) knives (unsure of spelling for both). They are worth every penny. Check out Marshalls and TJ Maxx's home section. They have Wusthoff and Henckels (German) knives, and All-Clad cookwear at terriffic prices.

What I like even more than down pillows are pillows stuffed with Alpaca wool clusters. We have alpaca wool comforters and pillows for all of our beds, and they are wonderful. The pillows in particular resist compression a bit more than down and therefor have a little bit more support than a down pillow, which I like. The comforters have a very broad temperature range. I like them better than down. I got them from here: http://www.crescentmoonduvets.com/our_products.htm They made our comforter for our master bedroom in a custom size for us, and also made a duvet cover out of material we supplied to them.
