Sorry to hear you missed out BingoLiddle!

Phew, we are finally getting our head above water with orders. Please accept our apologies if you have experienced delays. We hope to clear the back log by the end of this week.

In the meantime we just received these three loake MTO's I thought you might be interested in. Our Aldwych Dainite is something we have done before - and this year we have added a Strand and a Buckingham Dainite sole MTOs. We are still awaiting the professional photos - but since these colours already exist we are sure you can use your imagination with these leather sole versions...

Loake Aldwych Dainite

Loake Buckingham Dark Brown Dainite

Loake Strand Dainite (Burgundy is the one in the background).

Ha! But then my new kicks arrived and I couldn't be happier.

Glad to hear of your order backlog. That's got to be a positive issue in the grand scheme of things right? Keep up the good work

Hi All

I thought you would like to know that we have just added Cheaney to our website. This is a brand we have dealt with before in the early naughties and we are very pleased to be selling them again now. The company has changed ownership and improved it's standing amongst English shoemakers in the meantime. It was sold by Prada and is now owned by the Church family who have made the brand one of the most sought after English brands. They make the shoes entirely in the factory in Desborough, and judging by the shoes and boots we have received so far the quality is exceptional.

We hope you enjoy the selection we have ordered - more details on the website of course...

Hi guys,

Can you comment on the sizing of the Barker 469 last (Burford for example) vs the Loake Capital? Do they fit the same? I've had the Loake Aldwych in an 8.5 (from your site
fing02[1].gif
) and found it to be a bit roomy, so would have gone an 8 the next time. Now that Loake won't ship to Australia I like the look of the Burford so was wondering if I should take an 8 in those too.

Thanks

Hi - Willis

The Burford is a G fitting, so if you found the Capital last in 8.5 F roomy, we certainly would not recommend an 8 G on this last. You might be OK with a size 7.5 but there is always the chance that the shoe will not be long enough. However I would probably suggest going with an F rather than a G if possible - and as you have suggested trying a half size smaller (8). My first thought would be our Barker Newman MTO http://www.pediwear.co.uk/barker/products/8159.php - but if you go to this page http://www.pediwear.co.uk/footwear/oxford/ and select Barker, F from the selections you will be able to see all the options.

In the meantime do you own any other English made shoes which might help us determine the best size for you?

Please feel free to ask about any other styles you are considering.

Regards

Mike

Thanks Mike
As for other English shoes, I don't own any, but tried in a Crockett & jones suede Lowndes in the 348 last in a size 8 and it fit close to perfect. Snug in width and not too much extra length. The Hallam in 8.5 however was huge on my foot with nearly 2 inches extra in the toe.

Do you have any measurements for the 7.5G Barker? Maybe the outsole?

Unfortunately we do not have any shoes on that last in that size in stock. However, I really do think that it sounds like you are best suited to a size 8 F. The Crockett shoes you tried would back this up - I suspect the Hallam you tried was a wide fitting - it is available in both standard and wide fitting.

It's impossible to know without trying of course, but I don't think your foot shape is likely to suit the G fitting - so unless there was a compelling reason to stick with the Burford I would suggest an alternative in 8F. Is that any help??

I had a rather general question about Alfred Sargent, a brand you nearly find on the continent.
To which last of Carmina would you compare the Last 7wk of Sargent? (Or would it be possible to provide me with length and width (or a sketched drawing of both) in sizes 6 and 6,5 UK? )

Hi Dieg0

Thank you for your enquiry.

The 7wk last is a slightly wide fitting last - we classify shoes on this last FX rather than F for this very reason. There is a diagram of the last with shoes on our website, but I have copied it here for you too. As you will see it is a broad last and quite rounded at the toe.

With Carmina, we are at the start of our journey with the brand. The lasts we have experience of so far are not comparable to the 7wk last. We have had shoes made on the Simpson, Rain, Inca and Soller lasts - none of which I would say are similar shape to the 7 wk!

With lasts such as the 7wk we often suggest customers opt for a size half smaller than their usual size to compensate for this extra width.

Please do let me know if we can be of any further help.

Subscribed. I love browsing the Pediwear website. Not many retailers seem to list C&J models.
