eBay/Paypal Disputes

Does anyone know how long, after you have made payment on an eBay auction through Paypal, you have to file a dispute with either of them? I know that once you file a dispute with Paypal you have 20 days to take action, but is there a limit on how long you can wait to initiate one?

I think it's 90 days, but am not sure.

45 days. I know of a person who waited until the 47th day to file a claim and Paypal wouldn't honor/hear it. They instead advised the parties to work it out.

however , please note, a chargeback through c.c company , which in turns makes paypal take away your money , can be done even after 90 days. i heard there is really no time limit on this.

although according to paypal and c.c. companies , the majority of chargebacks occur within the first couple of months, and a chargeback to happen after a year, while possible, is very rare.

this is where paypal should own up. in the event of a charge back in later time, they should take the hit and not affect you the seller. it is owning up to their said 'insurance' policy on seller protection. if seller did everything right and all is well up to that point of the chargeback a year later let say, paypal should own up and pay for that hit.

I am reopening this thread as I have just filed a paypal dispute for an item that I never received. The item was paid on Jan 21 (yes, I forgot I bought the item). The dispute went through, though it's been more than 45 days. Does it mean that paypal is going to reject the dispute and I will have no recourse against the seller (other than negative feedback which is really of little value given that he's not a commercial seller)?

Yes, your only recourse is through your CC company if your paypal payment was processed with a CC.

Paypal will probably deny, but you can file a claim through the ebay insurance policy. Since it was not recieved that is easy to win.

How does one file a claim through the ebay insurance policy?
