Absolutely. I think cord. suits are a great look, especially with 3-roll-2 jackets.

Will it be be cut to wear with the longwings (yes, I know the longwings are bluchers) or perhaps something a little sleeker in its lines?

I have always associate a full suit of corduroy with the preferred dress of the Kings-Cordes affiliation of the National Front from Manchester, but maybe in America it doesn't have such political sentiments that can be taken as uninviting to outsiders.

It would be cut like any other suit I have. I would probably wear the jacket as a sportcoat more often than not. I wear the longwings with everything I own, as I do sleeker shoes.

I used to have one and wore it both as a suit and a sport coat as you suggest.

If I get another one made it will probably be a three piece, three button, center vent, with patch pockets.

For someone who has a few suits, I think it is very useful for casual wear.

Matching cord vest and jacket with odd trousers or denim is a neat look.

I have a three-piece corduroy suit. I like it a lot as it's slightly unusual. It's extremely fitted and has a rather short, flared skirt.

What's wrong with a velvet suit?

Given some of the antique velvet items I've seen, it seems a durable sort of material. I think a velvet suit is ideal for certain evening events. I have a black one that some might say looks "seedy" in a '70s lounge lizard sort of way but isn't that the whole point? You don't want a wholesome looking velvet suit.

Sure, although I personally prefer velvet corduroy sport jackets.

I don't think velvet is durable, especially velvet pants which wear out very quickly in some spots. Velvet sportscoats fare better though.

Corduroy suit: I think it depends on the size of the whale and the cut. I'd do one in navy or blue. I don't like brown, tan or green corduroy suits.

rather a corduroy sportcoat or blazer would be better idea than a cord suit.
