it takes a lot of money to tailor things...sleeves cost me (on the cheap end) $10 each sleeve, and re-cutting/shaping the jacket hem is pretty expensive. i think tarmac is just saying that the money you spent on having the jackets tailored, which is easily $100+, could have been spent more wisely on a better fitting jacket.

Well, the sleeves are going to be tailored by a personal friend, who has been a tailor for over 30 years, as a favor to me. The only expense there will be buying her a nice xmas gift. I have no intention of shortening either of the three jackets (the charcoal is actually part of a suit).

The total cost of the suit and the two coats is $550. Even if I had to spend another $100 on just the sleeves, which I do not, the final cost would not be outrageous for all three items. The coat on the left is a nice Canali, the middle is a Corneliani suit, and the rightmost jacket is an interesting Hickey Freeman.

Like you said, the length seems ok to me, maybe just slightly long. I have a bubble butt and the jackets just barely cover it.

I guess I posted the pictures to see just how high the level of vituperation would be; it seems that it's not all that bad, and I find that reassuring.

Problem solved. My understanding is there are 2 alternative ways to judge the length of the suit: 1) If the fabric falls below where your knuckles when your hands straight down at your sides, the jacket is too long. 2) If a jacket doesn't fully cover your ass, it's too short. In your case, you should opt for the latter as the basis of judging length. It does look a slight touch on the long side with your hands at your sides, but you probably don't spend all day with your hands flat at your sides anyways. Once you get the sleeves fixed, your jackets will still fit better than 90% of other people's jackets will. My RTW suits usually fit like that, and I'm happy enough with them, but I do have my MTM/bespoke suits made shorter.
