I second Argentina. Especially Buenos Aires. Its like being in a classic european city, except the exchange rate is much much better. You would have to get a deal on the flight, which is possible, but keep in mind the seasonal difference. And October is the rainy month. But at 3-1 on the dollar, you can RACK UP.

Edinburgh Scotland????

The City is beutiful in the Winter and there's plenty to do mate, although i would say that as i stay here...

DAmn man that looks pretty amazing. I think for this trip though we're going to stay in the states. Just with the time constraints and whatnot, I think we'd be best to go somewhere without having an overseas flight. I've heard a lot about Edinburgh though, I think my father and I will be going there next summer.

Tallinn, Estonia for summer. I live in Tallinn and its beautiful. Modern mixed with 13th century old town and still relatively cheap.

Vancouver / Victoria / Whistler area in Canada. You can fly into Vancouver and take the ferry over to Victoria, which is a great city. Fairmont Empress hotel is right on the water and is really nice - I think the rooms start at $250 or so. Or, if you ski, Whistler (2 hour drive north of Vancouver) is a massive ski hill. Really great. Even if you don't ski, the ski village is about as active as they come. Lots of restaurants and bars.
