Decanters

I'd like to buy my father a nice decanter or two for Christmas; they can be individual or in a set. Looking for reasonable prices here, the $50-100 range (the higher end being if we're doing two). He has a nice cherry wood bar with marble fronting, but the aesthetic doesn't really influence the purchase.

He might like something classic...try to find him one with a similar texture glass as the Polo Safari bottle.

All of their decanters are lead free just incase you decide to store port in it.

It'll be for port, brandy, etc, and not for wine, so I'll be buying one that can be topped.

Are you looking for one that's contemporary or classic in design?

I have a question;

Does a good 30 or 40 year Tawny need to be in a darker bottle? I really don't know much about port wine, only that I really enjoy it.

What are your recommendations?

I know people put sherry in regular crystal, but what about port?

Traditionally, Port would go in a clear wine decanter-- one would drink up a bottle when opened. Not that it's terrible after a day or two, but it won't be at its best. Sherry hold up better over time, and can be left on the counter with less damage.
