VOTING ENDS ON JULY 15. GET YOUR VOTES IN NOW.

We are now in the voting period! In order to pay to vote (yes, but keep on reading)

You can "buy and vote" here: http://www.styleforummarket.com/viberg/

If you vote for a makeup, and it gets made, your $20 vote counts for a $40 credit (it will have to come as a refund, because of the limitations of the Big Commerce software, but your refund will be 2x your vote!). If your makeup does not get made because of insufficient interest, of course, you get a refund. The only time you forfeit your vote money is if you vote but then decide to not purchase. We use this system so that we know that the people voting are in fact committed to buying. So don't hang back and hesitate to vote. Voting will end at the EBD Pacific Time, Wednedsday, July 15.

Spread the word to your buddies on other forums, reddit, etc... Styleforum is, has always been, a big tent, and pretty much everyone, troublemakers aside, are very welcome.

Hi guys,

Without further ado, here are the "special leathers" that Guy showed me when I was at Viberg last week. Let's get some proposals on the table! Please note that texture and color are really hard to capture accurately on camera, so if I say it's lighter or darker, or whatever, please believe me (or else you'll get something that photographs the same as in these pictures, but looks different irl).

I'm going to start the proposal stage now, and end it somewhere around the 4th of July. So, between watching fireworks and eating BBQ, you might want to check this thread.

Aged Bark - a warm brown with dark low tones

Beige cafe - a mid chestnut brown with dark low tones - much leather and more matte than this picture shows - it was really hard to capture.

"Black Unicorn" grain side - if you click on this picture to see the full size, you'll see that really beautiful moose grain.

One of the few leathers that is roughout side ready, this is the roughout side, which looks like a very hairy, rich, suede.

Dust black calf - a dusty black... what else is there to say?

Grey Italian Calf - another impossible to capture color - the top right hand corner shows the color the best, though even that is a bit dark. It's a grey pullup leather with some blue and olive in it. The color when "pulled" is a taupe grey.

Tan horse - so rich. Tight grain, incredible lustre. Rich mid brown with reds in it and some cark undertones.

Tobacco Chamois - mid brown, dark low tones, with a nubuck finish.

My first proposal? A tan horse trench boot on a crepe sole! Real Desert Fox style stuff.

I really like the aesthetics of chukka boots but I'm thinking I can't wear them. All my attempts to wear them have failed. I just can't seem to get them to feel secure on my feet. If I tie them really tight to make them feel secure, then my instep starts to hurt shortly as they're too tight.

I've also begun to like the look of a wedge or mini-ripple sole, which I never expected. The black unicorn, grain side out, on a Vibram wedge sole would be really tempting to me.

Looking at these leathers, and taking into account the beautiful natural color of the crepe sole, I would say either the beige calf or the tan horse. The beige calf would be a definitely workhorse - something that would go with absolutely anything, and tbh, it's a color type I often default to. The tan horse would be a more distinctive boot that would really be very beautiful, and honestly, visually arresting.

Fok, on the Beige Cafe description do you mean "Darker" instead of Leather? It looks like an aged Natural CXL.

The Viberg Chukka has 3 eyelets, fairly high and it is much more secure than another other chukka I've tried, but ymmv. Black Unicorn on a wedge? Could definitely be done. I see it as sort of a proto-creeper boot.

Use the term "straight toe cap". Plain means.. none, and it will just confuse people.

Yeah, that's a pretty good description, except that I meant "lighter" That picture is way dark. Aged natural CXL, where the CXL is on the lighter side, is definitely a good description though.
