Energy for Workouts

I was wondering what kind of supplements you guys would recommend for getting energy boosts before working (or throughout the day). I ask because I often feel that my muscles are capable of doing more when I'm working out, but I just get tired during sets quickly.

I'm a big time Ectomorph, so I'm looking for something that won't suppress my apetite too much (is that possible)? I went to GNC today and the guy recommended BSN Cellmass because I want to gain weight. Will this give me energy before workouts? I thought it was for postworkout recovery.

Thanks a ton.

Yeah - CellMass is a creatine that's really more for recovery. If you're going to buy BSN, the NO-Xplode is the product you want for pre-workout energy.

I also find the Instone Pre-Workout Intensity to be a good product - and it's pretty inexpensive as well.

The other thing is just to get a eat a lot of protein and carbs throughout the day so you have the energy you need during your workouts.

Four slices of bread does it for me.

I'd try getting more sleep and going on an athlete specific diet before spending money on anything. Thats what did it for me.

Did you just start working out again? It could just be that your metabolic system can't handle the work load yet. If that's the case working out consistently will fix the problem.

I should also add that while creatine, like CellMass, will eventually help you gain weight, you'd be better off to start by eating more and adding weightgainer protein shakes between meals. Like they say, you can't get big if you don't eat big.

Good ol' 100% pure Creatine Monohydrate taken with grape or apple juice about 30 mins before your workout. Or if you have a disposable income you could buy the Creatine/Sugar mixes like SavV12 or CellTech. Although there are a few people who dont respond to supplemented creatine.

^^ What he said. You can also sip that during the workout. Add some BCAAs for good measure.

Some advocate drinking protein shake beforehand. I used to drink creatine. Some eat during the workout too but I dont do that.

Everything else is spot on though.

I wouldn't reccomend buying BSN, as their stuff is on the pricey side.

Caffeine makes me cramp and stuff during my workouts. All I do to get energy is eat a banana (fructose) or something. That, and listen to music.
