Proper way to fold tie when shipping? Please help!

Guys i am sending an expensive tie to a guy who bought it from me on ebay. I do not want him returning it because he said it was creased a certain wrong way. So any advice would be much appreciated on the proper way to fold ties when shipping. Thanks!

Ideally, roll it, put it in a plastic bag and ship it in a small box about the size of the tie. But I've had plenty come in padded envelopes and they were fine.

If you're really worried then box it, but here's how I package ties. I fold them in half, usually with the small end through the keeper. I then take half a sheet of white tissue paper and wrap it. I then fold that in half (gently) and wrap it in bubble wrap or other cushy packing material (whatever I have on hand that was free). I then put in a half-sized manila envelope, tape the metal clasp and mail. I don't get complaints, in fact I've gotten several compliments on how well they were packed. This usually costs about $1.50 to mail 1st class.

wow thanks guy thanks a lot....... so tell me, when they charge $6.00 for shipping what kind of shipping are they using with that price? like a special box or first class mail or something?

Depends on the shipper. But at $6, I, as a customer, would expect Priority Mail.

Also, having received a tie (ties?) from AlanC, I can vouch for his lovely packaging.

Oops, wrong thread.

I fold them in half and wrap in tissue paper or put in a big ziploc bag and then in a bubble mailer. Any light creasing will quickly dissipate once the tie is hung. I've had no complaints and generally positive feedback on packing.

I have a AlanC tie that I sadly have not worn yet. That said his shipping was perfect.

Ditto on the tissue paper, that's exactly how I've done it. Then I seal in a plastic bag and use a Priority box with some bubble wrap so it won't move.

I too got ties from both EL72 and AlanC and can attest that their packaging methods are top-notch!

My problem is I've collected a bit too many. They come from various sources, pretty much never at full retail.

If you'd like to share in the joys of an AlanC tie I have a Zegna tie available, as well as a couple of RL Rugby ties (see link in sig).

Here is some more positive feedback - I recently purchased a tie from EL72 (cashmere Borelli 7-fold) and it was packed perfectly, no creases, and it was a gorgeous tie to boot. A great transaction.

Me too; always survived in perfect state. In fact, I was happily sporting an EL72 tie today. Unhappily, I had a lead-footed taxi driver on my way to a morning meeting, resulting a few drops on my wool tie. I think I was able to save it & didn't notice a stain at the end of the day.
