Favorite troll? - Page 2

Best Josh thread: Do drycleaners exist? and the one about the exhaust from cars ruining his pants. MikeVice was awesome too. Someone please dig up his rant about how the style of Miami Vice is timeless. Also, GQAirlinePilot was hilarious on the old GQ Forum. Thanks to him this board was created.

I believe Josh once also was distressed over the fact that his suits weren't properly allowed to "breathe" and were thus in danger of being suffocated. koji

Strangely enough I was a lurker on both the modernman and ask andy forum around the arrival of Josh. I think the sheer entertainment value of his posts encouraged my entry into these forums. newyawkcal

Yeah, Josh5414 was an excellent character: If nothing else, he certainly spurred vigorous debate. My favorite, I think, was the one where he 'revealed' that instead of sending his Lands' End wool trousers to the dry-cleaner, he would simply exchange them for a new pair every few months. Or the thread where he wanted to know the most conservative side on which to part his hair. My theory is that he 'evolved' into Joshua on the Ask Andy board. I also enjoy Marc39's many pseudonyms, especially when they have entire conversations with each other in threads made with the express purpose of promoting/bashing one product or another. The gimmicks usually give themselves away in their initial posting, always saying something like 'I'm a long-time lurker, and I've learned a lot from everyone here, especially that stylish Marc Grayson'.

By the way, I am steadfast in my belief that Josh was not a troll. I really do think he was just a very confused teenager.

I'm with you. I'd be skeptical, but I knew someone who had the same level of obsession/disconnection from reality as Josh, only with regards to computers rather than clothes.

Is there any other kind? Jon.

At the time, I did some research/snooping on the web and found Josh participating at computer programming boards so I was leaning towards him being real, in some sense. The MM board would not have lasted as long without him. I sometimes suspect some stakeholders of sparking discussion by trolling and SteveB has even admitted to troll at times, although he has not confessed directly to trolling here. Nothing wrong with benign trolling but flaming and baiting can ruin a board. B

I followed the entire Kalra saga from its inception, but I have a soft spot for ClassyFreddy. That thread was a hot topic right at the time I first discovered the Style Forum. Also, there's some really useful information in the ClassyFreddy thread, so I was able to learn while I laughed. Regards, JBZ

The infamous ClassyFreddy.  That was a memorable afternoon for me.  Is that thread still around?  Be funny to read through it again.  Although I actually may be "an ass".

Andrew: Welcome back. We've missed you. Bjorn: I'm particularly trolly when it comes to politics. As the election approaches, I'm really going to try and behave. All of you feel free to chide me INB. BTW, what is the perception of our current president in Sweden?

I was not aware that the U.S. currently had a president in Sweden.

it's part of the shadow government...but only in the summer months.

I have to go with Mr Thraco favorite on Josh. I still think of the "transparent collar stays" every so often. John G. Edit- the transparent aluminum collar stays was my introduction and first posts to Mr Andys forum. I read the archives as much for Josh posts as the knowledge. Long live Josh
