great suits. i really want the one in my size (40r) but its just to similiar to something i already have-a rlpl suit in what looks to be the same exact fabric, albiet with notched lapels/ticket pocket. i dunno if thats enough difference to justify buying this one. hmm. its certainly a lot cheaper tho, i paid $2400 for mine, which was 40 percent off! this is almost painful.

Sorry to bring the pain!

I think know the RLPL one you mean, in fact I think I've sold a couple of examples of it right here on SF. They're similar but the Black Label fabric has a marginally bolder glen plaid (the grey background is a shade lighter than the RLPL one). The cut is a little different too, of course, reflecting the different ethos of PL vs BL. I won't kid you though, they're fairly similar suits in some ways so I can fully understand your hesitation!

Anyway, all items currently still for sale despite some PM interest and so will go onto eBay tomorrow evening if still unsold by then.

Hi Holdfast -

The 46R 3 piece is Corneliani made right? And how dark is the brown?

thanks

Yes, Corneliani.

It's a pretty dark brown. Under dim light/twilight, you might even mistake it for a warm-toned dark grey. Under bright light, it's more brown but never goes lighter than, say, coffee with a splash of milk. Versatile colour I think.

Any sign of 48L suits, 40L trousers?

thats interesting. yea im new to tailored clothing so i only have that grey suit, plus a navy linen suit and a brown tweed suit. methinks my next one should be wool, and navy, especially with pinstripes. altho i prolly wouldnt be able to resist a black chalk striped suit or even a tux. what do you say santa?

Why, oh why, do these beautiful suits have such giant trousers? Where's that magical 46L with the 35" waisted trousers?
thats a big drop, how do you usually find your suits? maybe you could find a suit where the jacket could pass as an odd jacket, and let your tailor do his best (or worst) to the pants?

Some of the designery brands occasionally do a suit in an appropriate drop. It's tricky because usually anything with that much of a drop is for a very slender man, and I've had my fair share of hearty meals. Right now, after some disasters I've only two Paul Smith suits in my closet, and am struggling to find anything else.

I've never worked anywhere that cared in the slightest about what I wore, so I have time to figure out what to do.

Somehow, I'd be surprised if I find suits with that drop! Wow.

They are beautiful suits,

I'd be most interested in a DB Chalkstripe like the 42R RLPL you sold a few weeks ago in a 40L (or 40R, not necessarily RLPL but if you have access to discounted Ede / English cut suits) or a canvassed 3 piece suit.

Will be keeping an eye on your findings.

Best luck with the auctions !
