These shoes have been sold. On HOLD pending payment. LAST CHANCE - THESE WILL BE ON OFFER TILL NOON PST ON FRIDAY AT THE FINAL PRICE OF 270 SHIPPED - DON'T YOU LONG AND SLENDER FOOTED PEOPLE KNOW A BARGAIN WHEN YOU SEE ONE?! PRICE CUT -- THESE ARE NOW 290 SHIPPED CONUS. It kills me to part with these but they are a little too tight for me to think of even wearing them. So after considering foot reduction surgery and/or investing in some kind of (equally medieval) expanding device, I am doing the decent thing and offering these up to forum members: These retail in England for GBP 310 (or 263 excl VAT), i.e. $630 or $540 excl VAT plus shipping. (Eg. http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/produc...electedFitID=0 ) I'm offering them Brand New (without box but with Church's shoe bags) Church Diplomat -- Custom Grade -- Semi brogues -- Black Unworn, unused, spotless soles. Size - US 12-12.5 Fitting - Narrow Writing on inner wall: 115 E (Meaningless) measurements: Length outer sole 12 and 11/16th inches Width at widest point of sole: 4 and 6/16th inches First PM gets them. Asking $320 shipped CONUS. Paypal or cheque is OK. If paypal comes in by midnight PST, I will throw in a pair of new cedar shoe trees.[IMG][/IMG]

Can you ship to Brazil (Manaus)? How much to ship there to my country?

thegaviero- I'll have to find out. My guess is it will be something like $35 more with insurance. But since you are new to this forum, can I make a suggestion in the collegial spirit of this place?

The suggestion is that for the steamy, rainy climes of Manaus, the Church Diplomat's all-leather sole may not be the best shoe for you. I think Church and C&J do nice 'country' brogues with a Dainite sole.

Of course, you are still welcome to purchase these. But as someone who has travelled at least to the Peruvian Amazon (Iquitos), it's just a thought I had.

It of course is very kind of you to tell me how best shoes for my home town, which is actually more wet than dry!

In fact, I am already the prideful owner of the "Grafton" mark of the "Church" English shoes with thick rubber soles suitable for even our jungles. But I am considering Diplomat for business travel to the meetings in Brasilia and Sao Paulo, as well as abroad.

Thank you.

No, the shoetrees are out of the deal now. In any case, shipping them to Brazil will add to the mailing cost, I would imagine.

I received more than a couple of PMs wanting to be sure about the size (UK vs US) so I am enclosing a confirmatory email from A. White of Church's Shoes in England about the shoes:

Dear Professor V,

With reference to your e mail, the size written inside our shoes is the
same wherever they are purchased. 115 is english size 11.5 and the E
fitting is a narrow fitting. Our standard fitting is F and we make a
wider fitting G.

So tempted...I'm killing myself for not trying on a similar pair at Filenes Basement to know how they'd fit!

You know, you are the third person to express anxiety about fitting. And I realise the reason why -- I should have clarified at the outset that the shoes are tight for me because I wear 12.5-13 'D' in the US. Indeed, the person who sold them to me insisted they were average to wide because of the 'E', little realising that the 'E' for Church's means Narrow!

To cut a long story short, these fit like a true narrow -- I actually took them to the AE showroom in San Francisco and had them do me the inside and outside measurements. "If a gentleman wears 12 AAA, B or C in AE, and perhaps also AA, these will be fine" was their verdict.

PS- They also reluctantly conceded that the shoe was a darn sight better than anything AE is cranking out.
