Chestnuts on a roasting fire.... Coca Cola adverts illuminate the darkened lounge (hmmm?)...... Hark the Herald Angels Sing... and a pair of Crockett & Jones "Chiltern" UK 9 F in Snuff Suede and fur lined to boot under the tree!... ahhh

[IMG][/IMG]

A special order that Santa must have left in Northampton I wonder if the lining accounts for the F fitting?

£5 discount as ever to SF posters when these are listed

with all the Ugg craze these days, my wife and all her friends each bought a pair of Uggs. my wife is getting a second pair.

i now in this ambience of Ugg mania have likened to the shearling fur and Ugg likeness as well.

I think these are way sweet chukka boots . very Uggish.

What is the price on these ? very nice.

Interesting. Are the boots larger than a typical 9F to accomodate the fur?
i would hope not. the Uggs i have been told after many wears the fur get pressed down.
it should be the same with this boot.

im really loving this boot.

External measurements:

Length: 12 3/8 inches (315 mm)

Width: 4 1/2 (114 mm)

I agree with the principle of buying your natural size. I assume C & J have produced this in an F fitting to make an allowance for the 'fur' since Chilterns are ordinarily produced in an E.

Price..... these will start at £155 GBP (sorry guys )

They may bomb.... they may fly, like the Lingfield.

As you know I like the 'one offs' and the 'odd uns'.

These are truly fireside slippers taken to the streets. I agree with the comparison to Uggs.

There is nothing about them that suggests they are subs in any way either.

I might list them in the womens' section too as IMHO they would make a jolly pleasant Christmas gift if 'she' knows her partner well.

BTW: If you wear a UK 9, I have just listed a nice C & J "Harvard" Cordovan Shell Loafer (res £155)

Graham

These are my size and I'm shopping for a pair of boots as winter started early here with some 5-10cm of snow this week. I really like them but for the suede, which I fear will not perform very well in winter conditions where the fur lining is needed.

You are welcome shoe. We all do to an extent, but there is an extra zing that you posess that is awesome!! Yes, i too did enjoy just examing the Darltons, it is a beautiful shoe, so many ways to appreciate it. The kicker is its a private pleasure, most people will get impressed by the watch or some other object of desire that may brand a logo....I have learnt a new appreciation of finer articles of clothing and shoes here. Thank you.

Regards.

EL , these are rubber soled , that would be perfect for a boot like that.

yes, shoes are primarily a 'private' pleasure, even those close to me do not see the extent of beauty that i see behind a pair of well-built shoes.

yes, there is the dual-aspect behind appreciation of a something like watches, cars, etc.

there are those who get a watch or car for show. to others. status and name.
and there are those who get a watch or car for pure personal pleasure.

shoes on the other hand, in this world, only have a pure personal pleasure aspect.
unless you wear branded PRADA shoes.

Graham, are these rubber -soled? that would be nice if they were.

The soles are not the issue, it's the suede uppers. I'm not in Southern California (where I think your feet would be waaaay too hot with these) and up here, the slush and salt will make quick work of suede. Calf is much more resilient.

Yes, these have the conventional 'Dainite' rubber sole.

I fully agree that they are unsuited for out and out slush and snow.

But slush and snow wipe out most outdoor options

For me slush and snow means :

Zamberlan Walking/Mountain Boots

Trickers "Grasmere" in Zug Grain or maybe a "Wetherby"

Crockett & Jones "Snowdon" or a "Coniston" .... with lashings of TLC to follow.

However: if you are dry .... these Chilterns could be the dog's b#ll#@ks

Amazing you would bring that brand up...when i wore my Darlton first time 2 days ago a friend was wearing Prada shoes.....I honestly felt a little sad for him, he was missing out on awesome shoes...cos of the logo. I guess he was enjoying his prada, so all was well, but boy were they poorly made shoes!!
The fur lined shoes are one thing my nurse wears all day at work...inside, in houston!!

Regards.
