Champagne Flutes - Page 2

We have a few of the Riedel Vinum cuvee prestige. They are quite nice and have that etched x in the bottom of the glass that concentrates the bubbles in the center. They are not expensive as far as these things go. They've also been somewhat durable for us. No breaks despite some rough treatment.

I actually prefer the aesthetics of the bowl style, or whatever it's called. But it is very hard to find nice ones these days, it seems. I can't stand the intricate ones, or the flat sided. My family has some "ooh look how modern" Swedish ones that are black glass, flat bottomed, no stem, and straight sided. Quite possibly the worst glasses ever.

I have two Ridel's for when special company and myself enjoy some bubbly. The rest of the time I picked up nice looking flutes at Pier 1 at around $1.25 each on a sale. You really cant beat 8 flutes for $10 that have a nice appearance.

Now when it comes to enjoying a glass of Richard or Succession only Ridel will do. I keep one of my sniffers at my loft, the other resides about 500 feet from my loft at a lounge I frequent because they did not see the importance of stemwear.
