need help with a specific hair style

I'm trying to achieve a faux hawk, sort of like how it is portrayed here

instead it more resembles a spikey faux hawk. What kind of product should I use? How should I cut my hair?

layered inward with longer hair in the middle and shorter as it gets to the sides. A lot of amjacks like it because it works well with thinning hair.

thanks, looks like i'll have to find a hair stylist now

the faux hawk is the only style that works with my hair right now unfortuantely

not a lot of options when you want almost no hair on the sides
