Danny Welbeck, fresh off a 10-month injury layoff, out for another 9 months with an injury to the other knee after about 1 appearance.

It's the kind of thing you absolutely pity in real life. As an armchair footballer, you can't help but laugh; Arsene sure knows how to keep his players in decent shape (here's looking at you, Wilshire)

ESPNFC had a nice piece on the rates of soft tissue injuries among Spurs, Arsenal, Man City, and ManU (chosen because they are "all clubs that have had the same manager since Pochettino’s appointment and who, like Spurs, have competed on four fronts in both campaigns").

Bottom line:

Total days missed through soft tissue injuries, 2014-15:

Tottenham: 108
Manchester City: 536
Arsenal: 727
Manchester United: 758

Total days missed through soft tissue injuries, 2015-16:

Tottenham: 98
Arsenal: 470
Manchester United: 561
Manchester City: 750

I've always had a soft spot for Sunderland and a grudging respect for Big Sam. Turning that team around to survive yet another year is an impressive achievement.

49 years ago today the Lisbon Lions, pride of Glasgow, become the first British team to win the European Cup defeating Inter 2-1.

Celtic won every competition they entered that year. I'm pretty sure all the players were born within 20 miles of Parkhead icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Congratulations to zizou, player and coach champ. Meanwhile, Rafa went from heading Madrid 6 months ago to the lower league in England lol
