How does prince of kent tie his necktie?

Some time ago i posted a similar thread on Andy's with a pic from Getty's.

Anyway, apparently (as can be seen from the photo) he ties the tie high up, with the wide end hanging doen very short . But because of his DB suit, you can't see it.

In the past, though, people suggested he had tailor made ties by Turbull (which may also be true) and these were very wide and had a thick padding.

I presumed it was just an NFL knot? How can you tell it is different from that? i.e. tied loose, too much on the wide part of the tie, if you could see the end of the tie, it would be too short.

Bernhard Roetzel, in his book "Gentleman-a Timeless Fashion" says Prince Michael likes to wear "Kipper Ties". Kipper ties are extremely wide and thick, and were popular in the late 1960's-early 1970s. From wiki: British fashion designer Michael Fish designed the kipper tie in 1966 working out of his establishment in Piccadilly. It has alternately been proposed that the name "kipper tie" is a reference to the extreme breadth of the tie resembling a kipper, or a sly reference to the designer, whose last name, Fish, was evocative of a kipper.

The more pertinent question is why Jon signed his name between the two sentances and not at the end of the second.
