eBay sellers: Sales during Thanksgiving weekend?

Dear Experienced eBay sellers:

Do you find that the Thanksgiving weekend (Black Friday and all of that) are good for your ebay sales or would you recommend waiting until later.

Suggestions, etc?

Thanks.

I just posted a bunch of stuff to end next Sunday. I'm hoping the holiday has no ill effect on sales.

I didn't list many this week simply because I didn't have many in stock. I think it would be fine provided the auction ends on Saturday or Sunday. People have more free time to check out the auctions and I would assume most would be home by then. Then again, it's hard to say.

I think wed-fri is bad, as people are busy. anything after that should be normal, i hope

I wonder if people might be feeling financially fatigued immediately after the Friday/weekend sales? Gift stuff might go up at the beginning of December, but I wonder if it's a good time for men's used clothes.

Just wondering -- is there ever a good time for men's used clothes?

The holiday (Thursday) will be dead on ebay. The other days may have normal to high traffic as people attempt to win auctions in time for Christmas delivery. I'd guess that any period of high traffic would translate into more items bought for personal use (i.e., one for mother, one for me; one for father, one for me; one for daughter, one for me; one for son, one for wife, one for nephew, one for me). But that's just a guess.

I had a few items I was going to post last night, but as I sat there getting them ready it dawned on me that next weekend is Thanksgiving. I chose to wait a week as I think there is still a lot of travel going on on Saturday and Sunday. I think volume may be down a bit.

My auctions usually close Sunday night.

But this coming Sunday is one of the busiest travel days of the year.

This week, I will start some auctions Tuesday to run for 7 days. A few choice items I will start Thursday to run for 10 days; then people can think of them all through the holiday.

I had 6 used shoe auctions end on Sunday night and it was a little 'different' than most of my auctions. There was very little action until the last minute, and a few items went for significantly less than expected but fortunately some went much higher!

Based on experience selling similar shoes I anticipated $460 to $550 total ending price for the 6 pairs and it ended at $450. This is obviously quite limited data, but the shoes I was selling are essentially commodities on Ebay. My conclusion based on this very limited data is that it was a little slow, but not hideously so....

I only had about 40 auctions end last night (Sunday), most received very little last-minute action but one or two did exceptionally well so go figure.

I assumed most people would be out of town or just plain busy this weekend, so I started a lot of the items higher, hoping for just a bid or two.

For what it's worth, rumor has it that the Monday after Thanksgiving has the highest online commercial activities in the whole year, hence the name "Cyber Monday". There might be benefits in setting 7-day auctions to start on the previous Monday, of if you feel cautious, 10-day auctions starting the prior Friday.
