Bacon. - Page 2

My girlfriend recently asked me what I would pick if I could only eat one item of food each day for the rest of my life. My answer, of course, was bacon. In Quebec, you can get very thick strips of bacon at sugar cabins. Pour some maple syrup on there and wow. That is hopefully what Heaven will be like.

Yes......bacon is truly the food of the gods......

I eat it nonstop, and have an old aluminum percolator that I keep the grease in to cook meals. EVERYTHING taste better with bacon grease...eggs, cornbread, cereal...

And that reminds me: it's been way too long since I've fried up some fatback.....

I don't like the maple syrup flavored stuff.

We make a salad with frisee, lardons (get a slab of bacon from the butcher and cut it into little batons, fry them up), walnuts and roquefort with a shallot or garlic vinaigrette. Its perfect with a grilled steak, or put a poached egg on top and for a light supper.

While at the market today I thought of this thread and immediately give in to temptation....

Being the good Atheist Jew that I am, I love bacon too! I have been buying the pre-cooked bacon strips at Costco lately because there is no mess in preparing it. It's pretty good, but not as good as some of the premium bacons. I hate having to clean up splattered bacon fat and having the smell permeate my apartment for days.

Funny, I've been getting some odd looks from girls I've brought over; apparently, leaving a pan of bacon grease on the living room coffee table as an air freshener is considered odd by some. I've been looking for bacon-candles to replace this refreshing aroma.....although the B-L-T candle set is mighty tempting:

I feel so bad for people of those certain religions who aren't permitted to eat bacon. It is definitely the perfect food.

Bacon is meat candy.

What is it about nitrates that makes bacon taste better? The organic stuff is just bland.

Okay, I flipped on the food channel after reading this thread, and honest to god, one of Paula Dean's kids was wrapping bread sticks in bacon and frying them.

There's a bakery in Osaka that makes a Bacon Pie.

A thick slice of bacon that is wrapped in buttery flakey pastry. It is the most unbelievably amazing thing in the world.

another perk i market to those i witness Christ to...

when you go to heaven, you can eat all the bacon you want and not get fat.
