I am curious about how one would tie a cravat in the style of a bow tie. I understand that this was in style at around the turn of the 20th century. In the David Suchet incarnation of Hercule Poirot he often wears a tie that appears to be in this style because the band is so wide.
I ordered a cravat and have been experimenting and have gotten it to look vaguely like a bow tie but it is difficult because the silk is much softer than that used in a modern bow tie. It is also quite a bit longer so I have to fiddle with the ends to get them to be hidden from view.
Does anyone know how to tie a cravat properly in that style?
