Edward green round-toe lasts

What I'm looking for is an EG analogue of the JL Paris 7000 -- something with a toe that's slightly narrower, slightly more pointed, and slightly more elongated than the standard round-toe last. In EG last terms, maybe something that bears the same sort of relationship to the 202 that the 808 bears to the 606 for square-toe lasts. The EG round-toe lasts that I know of are the 202, the 404, the 505, the 201, the 32, and the 33. The pictures I've seen of the 404 make it look like it has some of the characteristics that I'm looking for, but it has a bit too much depth in the toe box to be very elegant. The rest all seem to have a blunter toe than the 202. Are there any that I'm missing that might meet the requirements? And will EG make lace-ups on slip-on lasts?

I would say try the 32 E or narrower if possible (if D is a bit too narrow, you could try going half a size up). I think this is the most elegant rounded-toe last although I've never seen neither the 33 nor the 201. Regards.

Tony is way ahead of you. Spalla wrote back in May: "The new last, designed by our very own Tony Gaziano, is a subtle blend of the sublime 88 and the trusty 202. It's called the 82, it is in the works, and it is brilliant. I had a chance to see some prototypes of work in progress the other day in London; and have asked EG's permission to give you the scoop on this new last." Tony has since reported that the new 82 is in stock, so I assume it's now available for special orders. Sounds like just what you are looking for.

I agree with A.Harris. Sounds like what you are looking for. It is supposed to be based on the 888 fit, but a more elegant variation of the 202 for a more "bespoke" look.

Repeat after me: "I don't need new shoes, I don't need new shoes, I don't need new shoes..."etc..etc... It's the mantra I stick to, at least until next week. Then I'm off for a day to Paris.

So you were able to resist the tempting offers on Saturday? Those Maxwells were very nice.... not my size.

I had a chance to see a shoe made on the 82 last on Friday. It is certainly slightly more elongated than the 202, and looks OK.

after giving me the now customary (and embarassing) salutation, "after *more* shoes, are we sir?").
Almost like the barbers of old, who used to ask: "Something for the weekend, Sir???" (meaning, "Want to buy some condoms?")

Absolutely classic... LOL

I have such a good relationship with my made to measure man that I have not been able to shop in his place for a year, even though I visit almost twice a month.   When I receive a special mailing about something new, I always drop by....He is so happy to see me that he immediately pulls out a chair, brews a pot of tea, and starts chatting.  I feel like such a cad for wanting to look at the fabrics sometimes instead of hearing about his family and how the business is doing. Oh, you're no fun. Incidentally, for those who care, I contacted the EG Burlington Arcade store in London, and they told me that their first 82 last models will be in in mid-November (Russell -- "similar to Berkeley but with finer punching" in black and chestnut and Ladbroke in black and burgundy). In any event, I can say with near certainty that I will buy no more shoes until my fitting with George Glasgow from Cleverley on Thursday morning.

mmmmmmmmmmm.... Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaadbrooooooooke. Well, sounds like perfect timing for me; I will be returning to the UK in roughly a month. If anyone is interested, I'll post a 'review' or maybe even pictures then.

<raising hand>Umm, umm, umm, me, meeeeeee. I'd be very interested in what you see. And if you could be troubled to try a pair on and comment on the fit characteristics, that would be appreciated, as well.
