The "Actively Discovering 'New' Brands" Thread - Page 15

I have tried out some new brands recently. I'll be back with some reviews.

I've been looking for a workhorse unlined navy tie for a while and am considering the Difou unlined linen or "summer wool" (mohair / poly). Is there any reason reason to avoid 1) unlined linen 2) the wool blend (I don't like shiny ties, but then there's no shine on the photo). Thanks

They aren't actually unlined. They're partially lined.

There probably isn't any good reason to avoid blends provided the tie looks nice, but I avoid them anyway.

If you don't like sheen, I'd also avoid mohair.

Got it, thanks.

Did you get your suit from Husbands?  How was the experience?

Difou contacted me on Instagram after seeing a recent post wearing a Difou tie. He'd also read this thread.

Anyway, he sent me ten ties for me to take pictures of for use on his Instagram account. I asked if it would be okay if, after taking pictures, I gave away eight here. He agreed. So. Yeah. I'll be giving away eight ties to anyone who wants one. The only condition is that you gotta Paypal me $6 to cover the padded envelope and shipping. If you want to post your thoughts about the tie after receiving it, please feel free to do so. JP is a good guy (or at least, made a good impression on me as a really polite individual, and maybe I lived so long in Korea that I really value politeness).

@Caustic Man and @Academic2, y'all both come to mind. I'll post pictures of the ties shortly. Right now I have a football game to watch.

Your worst nightmare come Nov. 17!

I managed two pictures before light faded. May retake the second.

Yeah, well you better start scoring... Against UConn...

@Claghorn, we need to get some kind of bet going for that game. A wager on ties or something. Assuming Quakers are allowed to gamble.

@Claghorn I would be interested in receiving one of these as I have been meaning to try this brand for some time. Would you be willing to send one to Canada?

I guess they heard you.

That being said, I fully expect Louisville to win in November. I won't root for them, but I'll be mildly surprised if Houston upsets them.

As long as you cover shipping, I have no problem with it.

Ah, so you are one of those "I kind of root for any Texas team" people, eh?

No, I like U of H quite a bit. I'm just not one of those "because I like a team I assume they'll beat everybody." Even as a hardcore Spurs fan.
