People who say things like that usually only see big blockbuster films.

If you can't find one nice thing to say about the many talented actors there are today, then you probably don't know much about film at all.

As over-exposed and -celebrated as he is, the movies I've seen Jude Law in ain't been bad: Talented Mr Ripley, Existenz, Breaking and Entering...
How old is he he? Late 20s?

He's a bit past my generation, but I'm surprised that nobody's mentioned Daniel Day Lewis. He's really the only reason Gangs of New York was watchable. If you get a chance, check him out in the new movie "There Will Be Blood". Phenomenal performance.

Eastern promises (a pretty bad film overall) is especially guilty of this.

Sarah Polley is very good, I also like Romain Duris a lot, but mainly because of "the beat that my heart skipped". Another good french actor is Mathieu Almaric. Maggie Cheung has grown quite a lot in recent years.
