apparently it's good when it works. it received so many negative reviews, amazon took it off their website.

How "newer" are we talking?

Dragon Age: Origins is really good. The sequel is okay. These are probably closest to what you want.

Neverwinter Nights 2 is fun, but two of the expansions, Mask of the Betrayer and Storm of Zehir, are awesome.

These are older, but have you played Baldur's Gate 2/Planescape/Arcanum/Icewind Dale?

The Witcher and The Witcher 2 alternate between infuriating and incredible.

The Project Eternity Kickstarter might be promising. In general these old school RPGs have been the most successful Kickstarters because they're not being put out by the publishing houses. Everything these days is on the iPhone or an MMO.

Was going to say the same. It's a shame, but not surprising. Origin was a steaming pile of shit, so it's not surprising that they screwed the pooch on this one so bad.

SIM Baltimore

Put some time into the HOTS campaign and good Lord is the voice acting ever terrible. Story seems kinda hackneyed and meh but Bliz does a great job of making fun single-player so I'm enjoying myself so far. I like the nod to moba style games by adding in one-on-one fights and adding in level ups and whatnot.

Baldur's Gate 2 is my all-time favourite! I've played it dozen of times. The character development of party members, quests, dialogues and the living city of Athkatla are its highlight. It's far from those shallow wannabe RPG's that are being produced nowadays. Good ol' times.

I am playing Assassin's Creed III (I am in memory 10) and recently I've installed Planescape: Torment, it's been 8 years since I've finished it the last time.

Installed HotS last night. Haven't had time to play. I hope to play a little tonight on the campaign.

That was actually at request of the developer so they'd stop selling copies until they ironed out the problems with server capacity.

Wow, just went to amazon to see what people were talking about on SimCity... it is getting ripped to shreds.
