Speaking of RTS games and further more on sound design, anyone remember playing Total Annihilation? That game was an absolute blast to play. And the soundtrack was insanely epic.

I've been dying to try Demon's Souls, but sadly I don't have PS3. I do intend to buy Dark Souls. I love very, very challenging gameplay and uncompromising development, hence my everlasting affection for Genesis-era hard games.

My big question about Dark Souls is, is there actually multiplayer co-op?

Speaking of... I'm dying to play DESCENT 2 again! Anybody wanna figure out how to play multiplayer? Does anybody still have a Gravis joystick? I was a serial rapist when it came to this game.

Well, yes and no. Basically you can summon other players into your world to help you along as 'phantoms.' You can't speak to them, only communicate through gestures (in-game at least), but it works out pretty well. While you can summon people into your world it can also be invaded by other players who then attempt to kill you. Now this isn't an all the time thing, it only happens in certain situations which are easily avoidable. They did just announce a PC port with new content and changes to the game and they're hinting at a change in the way online works since they're being hush-hush about it. No word whether the content will make it to consoles though, but I think they're probably just hoping for some people to double dip. If you want to play with someone specific, it can get a bit tough to get in the same game (depends on level, progress, etc), but it's certainly possible.

So, does phantom play mean that both players are playing the same environment and both impact the same enemies? Or, am I just watching a transparent dude fuck off on my screen?

Nah, you're both in the same environment fighting the same enemies and what not. You can drop and trade items to each other, etc. You will see ghostly apparitions of other players running around though. Those ones can't do anything, you just see for a brief moment.

Yes, I have a Coleco. I'm 26, it is "before my time", but because I'm a complete loser... I HAVE SOME SERIOUS WIDEOGAMES.
