For the guys with a 360 who rarely venture into PC gaming I can't recommend The Orange Box enough. HL2 was incredible, Portal was genius, and TF2 is better than any other shooter available on 360, I don't care what anyone says.

Man I have no idea what it's like playing TF2 on the console but I can't imagine its fun. Then again, I love CoD4 with a controller so who knows?

I'm loving TF2 at the moment. If you can find a good server that has a high number of regular players you're in for a good game. I buy all my games through Steam. Between the Orangebox, Bioshock, & Call of Duty 4 i'm pretty satisfied. I love not going to a brick and mortar store to get my media (you can imagine how I feel about iTunes).

I've been playing Zombie Panic! Source recently. I got a voice changer that makes my voice sound demonic, and I changed my ingame name to "The Devil." Ill go in random servers and talk about the presidential primaries over the microphone.

I was considering getting CoD4 but opted for Orange Box instead. Games like HL2 just appeal to me more because I prefer a story based shooter with puzzles and adventure over a tactical shooter any day.

And TF2 looks like a dream on PC. I settle for the console version because my PC is not great for gaming (I can run CS:Source maxed out at 1280 x 1024). The controller responds well in TF2 (most of the classes are fairly slow though, so it seems like anything but Scout or Sniper would be dull with a mouse).

Overall, I play as about 6 of the 9 classes and it is usually a fun experience unless I somehow join the server that is constant lag.

I bought Cooking Mama for $20 yesterday but have a nephew down who keeps playing the same 2 songs on Guitar Hero. He doesn't own a Wii, so I let him play mine all weekend when he comes down.

I can't get enough Rock Band. Something I really like about it is that if you master the drums on rock Band, it will most definitely soften up the initial learning curve, should you want to pick up the drums. I just beat Run to the Hills on expert for the first time. I love that shit.

You're ahead of me. I can only beat maybe two or three songs on expert (without being revived anyway).

Something I noticed is that the difficulty curve is way off-balance for the drums. The guitar songs are on a pretty understandable difficulty progression, but some of the earlier songs on Expert are really fucking tough for their level (I think Celebrity Skin is really rough, personally, and In Bloom is a lot more difficult than the other songs at that level).

The great thing about drums on Rock Band is that, like their guitar, it only takes a few songs to get the hang of it. Also, it helps with rhythm.

Call of Duty is not a tactical shooter.

Shooting everything is a tactic

I haven't played it but I've heard that you have to tactically take out enemies, which is what I was going on. It's definitely nothing like Half Life 2, which I think is great.

Also, I've owned several FPS games released for 360 including R6 Vegas and GoW (3rd person) and so far the only ones I've liked has been Orange Box. Before this I bought Skate. Usually when I get a game I get one at a time and tend to play the hell out of it to avoid wasting money on shite games.

Anyone else have VF5: Online for 360? Despite being one of my all-time favourite series, it had the misfortune of being released right before Game of the Forever Super Mario Galaxy, so I played it pretty thoroughly for a week and then shelved it. I'm really digging into it again. I'm currently 14th on the "arcade score" leaderboards for Path C with El Blaze, which I think is pretty good for starting up again yesterday and not being Japanese. I'd like to be in the top 10 El Blaze players for each path. I'm not worried about the overall "arcade score" leaderboards as El Blaze is not the character for that. So yeah, e-cred respeck. Edit: Oh, and high-five to Brian and others looking forward to No More Heroes. It's getting universally high scores (Edge and Gamespot are usually at the low end of the spectrum and they both doled out 9's). Yipee and all that.
