Only he can get away with any kind of make-up

As that article stated, men have worn makeup for a long time, especially in the Western world where in the 18th century, aristocrats painted their faces white and used amusingly shaped beauty patches to cover up scars. I don't see the controversy nor see this as an affront to "traditional masculinity". I especially remember Isherwood in Berlin Stories writing about Arthur Norris applying discreet makeup to his face each morning to suit the climate--something a bit more brighter for those dreary days. Eyeliner, glitter, etc. have been worn by Glam rockers and the like since the '70s. In fact, Esquerita and Little Richard in the '50s were already glamming it up.

I agree. I don't see the controversy either. Who cares about male makeup. If all these ultra-macho dudes had any idea how many of their on-screen idols wore makeup they'd clamor to their rooms and flog themselves in punishment for the ridicule they espouse.

Scars are a badge of honor. The Spartans didn't cover up their scars.

Jon.
