Any explanation for why this Brioni blazer sold for only $46?

Thread Starter
I apologise if this is the wrong forum to pose this question but I recently came across a just ended ebay auction where a used Brioni blazer with all the right labels, lining etc and supposedly excellent condition sold for just $46.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll....cWAT.m240.lVI

Since used Brioni blazers and jackets sell for three or four times that amount here, I was just wondering what is the explanation for such a low price on ebay.

Is it lack of trust in the seller, or the authenticity of the item? Is the fact that it is being sold on ebay for a low starting price an indication of dubious quality?

Answers appreciated.

I think we need to have some understanding of the price discovery process.

Not exactly sure why it didn't do well, but it may be an orphaned suit jacket, and the measurements were all wrong. A size 44 jacket will not have a 22" chest measurement or a 18" shoulder. Also, people don't like brown much.

20" pit to pit and 44" chest? contradictory.

1-button coat is also less common (and generally less desired) than a 2 or 3-button jacket. But listing it as a 44 when it is smaller may be the biggest reason. Good deal for whoever bought it.

1. It's a suit coat, and it's a brown stripe

2. It's a poorly designed ad and photos. Bad copy too. You can tell the seller doesn't know much about Brioni.

3. Measurements are off.

4. The label is an older label. Not an ancient one, but it's the last label before the current one.

It is an old, and rather ugly suitcoat.
