Keep that ****!! It needs a home, otherwise it'll get chucked out and somebody's many hours of work will be wrecked.

Post pics, too.

Regarding that Henry Poole, how bad is the damage?

I was wondering how the tag was still in such good shape, and also for how long they been using that tag too, because that thing is only 3 tags old.

Well that makes much more sense, thank you for the info. I never would have figured that out myself!

My pleasure. You'll see that date on a lot of Italian-made stuff if you look at the fine print. Again, that haul is insane!

The Italian reference:

Legge 883/73

The law goes into detail, but the gist is that it declares that all garments must be tagged with fabric content (materials) and country of origin.

Would people here be interested in a group membership to an art/antique website that gives historical price data? So often I run a search only to find results that require a subscription for the useful bits of information. Beyond interest, is a group/shared membership ordinarily banned in subscription agreements/terms of service?

Eazy: So, so, so much win in that post.

I haven't done this in a while, so I'll do a photo dump. This is partially recent local thrift, and partially ethrift over the last few months. Spoilering for those on their phones. This is all stuff found by me.

Edit: found another pair of C&Js today.

And if ANYONE knows how to keep my pictures from rotating, please tell me. I think it must be something about the properties settings on the disk, but it's really freaking irritating.

Hello, my first ever post, winner winner chicken dinner! Two things to try, first, soak it in medium hot water for about 30 minutes. If it is latex or acrylic paint, this will soften it and you could be able to scrape it off with a fingernail or another smooth edged object. If that doesn't work, then it may be oil or enamel paint. I would try some lanolin based hand cleaner on the spots to see if this takes off any of the paint. I have owned a painting business for 19 years, had to remove a few paint spots from time to time. You can message me if neither of those work, there are other options, just a little more abrasive.

Gents, found a cool horn change bowl today not too unlike this one however some silly person decided to paint fake leopard spots on it. Would anyone have an idea how to safely remove the paint, would a regular paint stripper damage it? For $1.99 I was willing to chance it.

Depends what kind of paint they used. Couple options:

1. Citristrip works really well and is relatively harmless. I bought an old Italian guitar that was covered in a thick coat of poly. A couple rounds of citristrip got it all off. http://www.amazon.com/Citri-Strip-Q...TF8&qid=1452725254&sr=8-1&keywords=citristrip

2. Heat gun - be VERY careful. you have to keep it moving otherwise you'll have scorch marks, but I've stripped paint of of several guitars without ******* up the wood, so it should be doable on horn.

3. Naptha or Mineral Spirits - cheap at Home Depot. If you do this, do it outside or in a well ventilated area, preferably with a filtered mask.
