The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Part II (Return to the Thunderdome) - Page 2911

In before Mr. Consistency's continual thriftening...

Yeah, I'm around 6'-6'1" depending on the day (couple car accidents did a number on my spine so crushed my vertebrae up a bit) and have never been able to get over 200lbs in my life, always around 180 with 4% body fat in high school and little more fat in college. 10 years of not working out and I'm still hovering below that 200 mark. Definitely not fit, need to get back into some kind of cardio.
I drink lots of water every day, as mountain dew's main ingredient listed is (carbonated) water, haha.
Dew is my version of Adderall, helps me focus much better than actual medications ever have. Adderall didn't help, just caused me to still feel exhausted and only focus slightly better. I'm going to figure out a ramp down as I really do go through 4-10 cans depending on the day.
Picked up these Prada today after a work meeting, they seem legit but I've never been impressed by genuine Prada's quality.
Pics won't load right now, I'll edit them in in a few.

A small one...

Prada shoes, my size. Liked the look of them and then saw they were Prada and thus marked up accordingly. Legit? Found them on various sites and they look to be genuine, but I've learned eBay, Amazon, etc., are not always good ways to confirm. Pair on eBay new for $600, though.

Is this the guess I'm looking for? I know it's not the asap rocky shirt, but still good vintage.

Nice Earnest Sewn made in Italy lightweight jacket.

Crispy EZ.

All of this is surprisingly my size, so NA.

I've got to order up a Z rack to store some of my finds at this point, where do you all find the best deals on Z rack and decent hangers? My wife has expressed extreme displeasure over my large piles of clothing taking up space in the room I'm using for my finds.

There is a store near me who sells their wooden hangers 5 for 99 cents so I kopp hard when I go in there. For clothes storage, my girlfriend bought me a dual bar (upper and lower) rolling rack from Amazon that was cheap and isn't bad. Fits a whole closet's worth of shit

Inb4 thriftening.

Killed an estate sale today. Shit was sub-thrift prices. All NA for now.

Then these three things.

Alden 686 and 687 shell.

Ghurka #45 valet. Needs a little work, but pretty good shape. No idea on age or what the material is. Seemed like an odd leather, but now I'm not so sure.

And thank you Nordstrom rack.

Cuci everywhere the last few days! The one I picked up yesterday fits perfectly...I love/hate when that happens.

So good. Especially since I couldn't make it for the first day on Thursday so it was 25% off today. She said they didn't sell any clothes yesterday either, so I didn't miss anything. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

5 stores today:

pulled up to a new spot and this:

wut?

how fucking cool is this?!

vintage (little e) Levi's down 60/40 jacket. for her pleasure. one of my favorite 70s-80s levi's pickups.

more vintage. dat golden era 50s aloha. watumull's and leilani in a very good sea green with japanese foliage and dragonflies.

slubby cotton at first i thought it was reverse print but nope it's just faded from love.

with a neat shirring detail instead of the typical pleats at the back yoke.

i've noticed some folks hunting vintage aloha lately. i'll offer maybe a couple pointers:

let's talk vintage aloha (Click to show)

first glance - look for coconut buttons. these are bamboo and probably original. you can see the buttonholes are in cherry shape - i think they wore this open lol. also look for the collar loop - this one is tiny! and look at the little pearl button it matches to!

a lot of the older ones have exposed selvedge inside the button bands, like so. they did this into the 70s so far as i can tell.

SINGLE NEEDLE STITCHING throughout. you don't want to see serging. you want to see flat fell or lapped seams but not serging. there may be exceptions but i think 40s or 50s its' unlikely

that's it! hope to see some old-ass aloha shirts.

2nd trofeo silk in as many weeks. crappy pic it's a sky blue mini tooths

bb lardini mini gun club
