Nice Imperials from 1979. Maybe I am wrong, but it looks like something is stamped on the bottom of the sole. If its stamped with "FD" it means Factory Defect.

Alden, right?

I guess these are the Sanderson. But not Polo. Hmm. http://www.ralphlauren.com/product/index.jsp?productId=45090466&cp=51960806.51960816.46097636.46097796&ab=rd_shoesaccessories&ab=ln_nodivision_cs_dress&parentPage=family

Marshalls is stepping it up. But still too rich for my blood at $350.

Quick stop at the Retique after lunch (retique is a high end goodwill, for those that don't know. They don't really have better stuff than a normal goodwill, but they price everything higher anyway). I usually don't bother going there for this reason. Glad I stopped in today.

My first thought was Rancourt...can anyone confirm?

Same heel pattern, plus I believe most USA-made Ralph Lauren shoes are made by Rancourt, I don't think AE has made anything for them, at least not for a long time.

All I know is that I once found/sold a pair of RL "Saunders" model chukkas. Upon comparison of the heel, welting machine markings, inner size markings, etc. I concluded they were AE. This was a couple years ago, but the boots could've been older production.

Wrong. AE does the same heel for BB shoes they make. From a listing with the recent/current box:
