It helped to eat mostly at the same few restaurants over and over, ones that had detailed nutrition data so I could count accurately. Luckily I like repetition. Just kept it to 1600 calories a day, which equaled about two pounds lost per week.

Eat fewer calories than you burn, and always use the word 'fewer', not 'less'.

Regarding health / weight loss:

Biggest thing for me was diet. Cutting excess sugar in the form of Soda was huge. In the past year I've gone from 265 to 190. Had to change my entire wardrobe twice haha... from XL to L, and now from L to M. Have gone from 41" waist down to 36", and from 47" chest down to 40" now. ;)

Yes on both these points. Amazing how many people can't use fewer correctly.

I lost a little weight - not a massive amount, about 18 pounds - last year by keeping the unhealthy 'treat' foods to one day and controlling portion size and calorie intake. Basically eating fewer calories than I was burning. I took it steady and the weight has stayed off. I'm 6' and 180 pounds, although I could still stand to lose a little more weight round the middle!

On worcation in Seattle, thrifts are on par with Austin here.  Not raining Kitty, but I can see making a living here easily.

And I was supposed to be leaving to my beach house in Washington Tomorrow and dedicating two days to gutting Seattle. Glad I canceled, unfamiliar territory vs. a vet...forecast calls for two days of fucking wake.

^Pretty much this. How much you eat matters a hell of a lot more than what you eat, and there's no way to outrun a bad diet short of being a hardcore marathoner. That three or four mile run you're feeling pretty good about is equal to a slice of pepperoni pizza or maybe two of plain cheese.

6'1", 180-185. I eat a vegan breakfast and lunch and lost ten pounds without really trying. Breakfast is usually oatmeal with peanut butter and fruit. Lunch is a large salad, fruit and a small serving of a complex carb. Snacks are either a banana or nuts. I drink only water and unsweetened iced tea, which I brew myself. I might have two alcoholic beverages during the week.

For exercise I play soccer twice a week and run another two to three days a week. I need to incorporate some stretches and body weight exercises. Also the gf just joined a yoga studio so I'm considering adding that once a week.
