The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Part II (Return to the Thunderdome) - Page 2506

Had my best couple days in awhile. Found a bunch of Zenga shirts, some Billy Reid plaid, and these that fit. Stoked!

Also found this oddity.

Close up of embroidery...

Some nice Zelli tassel loafers (what kind of skin is that, the badges on the bottom of the shoes had come off).

My personal best find was actually free. Neighbors a couple houses up are moving and this was by the curb with a free sign. Paint has some wear, but it rides like butter. Vintage Nishiki Olympic.

Not to be outdone, my wife rolls up with this in the car.

I know that I haven't been at it for long at all but that bag contained many items I have thrifted for myself in attempting to build a respectable CM wardrobe and, although humble by many standards, I'm damn proud of them and was fucking gutted at the thought of them being either lost in the bowels of Chicago Midway airport or in the hands of some oblivious traveler who grabbed my bag by mistake. My Brooks Brothers Black Fleece SC that fits me like it was made for me..my suede Sutor Mantellassi chukkas that I have yet to even wear..my Iron Hearts..my Zegna sweater gifted by @mistermidwester
that I absolutely love..my Ricci and Hackett ties..my crocodile belt!

GONE.

Glad to hear you got your bag back!

Travel tip: Whenever I travel, I either a) dress like a plebe and pack my LL Bean polos and Eddie Bauer shorts (basically how I dress 85% of the time anyway) or b) pack the nice stuff (things I care about the most) into a small carry-on suitcase and bring it with me on the plane.

Decided to brave the holiday 50% sales today at the local spots.

Spring stuff: Lululemon shorts, Uniqlo linen and J. Crew gingham for myself with a couple ties for my girl's dad (he's a big Harley guy)

Fairly current (I think) Burberry London jacket with dual exhaust. Looked everywhere for the pants but no dice. Didn't want to leave it behind for $3.50

Yes, great tip to carry on your nice stuff. Lesson learned and fortunately, not the hard way!

After more research, it looks like the Risom is actually part of a floating desk. It's basically a walnut filing cabinet. It needs a little love, but it was dirt cheap, so we're going to rehab it and have our first Risom piece. smile.gif

I am psyched about the Nishiki, as it's my size, but I already have 3 bikes, so I'm going to have to give at least one of them the boot. Crazy thing on the Nishiki is that it seems like it was just tuned up. New tires (still have the nubs), tubes, and it shifts super clean and everything is clean and grime-free. I rode it around tonight and it's growing on me, but it needs a new seat, as that thing busted my ass.

Guys, anyone have luck with shrinking stretched alpaca/silk blend knits? I picked up an Inis Meain cable knit sweater today but it was hanging on a hanger and the neck is a bit stretched. This thing is so damn soft though and fits perfectly.
