Q:  I've picked up some cordovan leather shoes because CORDOVAN LEATHER SHOES!, only too late I realize they are really too beat up to be good shoes - the repair costs to put them to right would just be ridiculous. Is the leather salvagable for anything? Watch straps? Anything at all?

I heard from somewhere that if you are stranded and running out of things to eat, your leather shoe is a good source of calories. So perhaps a cordovan shoe will give you even more calories?

Been super busy and have had to resort to e-thrifting lately. This wasn't true e-thrift (>10%) but these things look like they maybe have been worn once, so I'm alright with paying up a bit. Anyone know when Horween stopped using the old shell stamp? One quick search suggested the 70s... Anyway, minty fresh and totally N/A.

#8 Alden for Brooks Bros. 763 unlined LHS. (Amazingly, not a single one of those terms made it into the listing.)

As far as I know BB still sells an unlined LHS with this stamp, though it's kind of luck of the draw on if you get a plain pair or not?

Honestly my favorite Alden shoe, the LHS, never worn the unlined version though.

Man...I was looking for some shell Alden strap loafers the other day...probably my size too..lol.

@Takai, yep, they do but this stamp is different from the current one. Different font and proportions.

@richnet12, the day I expanded my search terms beyond the ones I included above, I found these. They're definitely out there but I had to scan through a lot of postings to find them...
