The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Part II (Return to the Thunderdome) - Page 2345

Biggest miss so far:

[From 2014] Saw, but did not buy my first Barbour in the wild yesterday. Didn't know Orvis/Barbour were related. Thought it might be a fake and wanted to add a Pendleton tag for good measure...

I haven't seen a Barbour in the thrifts since.... :brick:

----------

So many good finds lately, pics soon hopefully...

I was gonna say, I'm far from an expert on anything but those looked pretty bad. Also, quantity said more than 10 available. Usually any quantity more than 1 on an item that's a crazy deal makes me suspicious.

The closest I got to that was a text from someone asking if it was me clearing out the racks at this one spot. It turned out that this certain location is where the super high end (and only true) consignment shop donates everything that isn't picked up a week after it's taken off the rack (shit only has 4 weeks to sell). Some guy literally came up on a rack full of Hermes, SLP, Givenchy, Lanvin, Cucinelli, LP, LV etc.. cuz that place only sells high fashion (strictly Rodeo shops). Just knowing that alone haunts me to this day....however I now know where they donate their shit so I guess there's a small upside.

It's not as often as it seems. The painful memories just stick with me, haha.

I know this really isnt believable, but literally when I first started I bought a JNY suit and a Ferragamo tie with no knowledge of all with my first purchases and passed on 2 vicuna jackets that day. It could of been that Vicunacashmere BS blend thats out there, but I remember the words vicuna in the name. That was like 8 years ago and I still remember it.

Im all about putting stuff back, then crying for months (years)...worst pass is probably a pair of Margiela side Zips in my size! Still can't understand whyI left them, I was poor, probably that.

I think this plaid is SC-able.

My gut says this is an orphaned suit jacket.

This LP is SICK

Is this Luxury Collection Ricci 'a thing'?

Despite being ZZegna, the seersucker jacket below is pretty good. too long for me though, 40R

it could be sc-able (if not for the moth holes)... but your gut is right. i also left the pants in the pants section. they're probably still there

EDIT: to be clear, i didn't split up the set, i just left em where they were. but they were both in store.

My worst pass was when I first started; RLPL tan DB 3 piece. I didn't even try it on and I've been chasing similar ever since. Still haven't seen another RLPL non-tie or 3 piece DB of any origin.

This thing is pristine. I just went to check it again... no holes.

We might have found the same pattern jacket then. Where did you see it?

38s? it has holes on the upper back or maybe shoulder. if you'd like i'll draw you a map. pm me.

EDIT: of course, it could always be a crazy coincidence. anything's possible.

Only the 2nd of these I've ever found:

I think the damage (2nd pic) makes it virtually un-sellable, so I'll just have to keep it for myself.

Speaking of Rodeo drive.

Is this a thing? Real?  Made in house or ...?

Battaglia Beverly Hills slim lightweight cotton pants with leather piping.

Battaglia is legit. Pretty sure it's directly across the street from Prada, it's the only legit boutique I can think of, directly on Rodeo, the rest of the stores are flagships, and Carroll is on Canon. And that seems to be the house line but those tags are definitely not in house made, they look familiar but I can't place them. The store has exclusive releases with Brioni and such.

EDIT: Although on Rodeo, placing them and Carroll and Co in the same category isn't right at all. Battaglia is a high end Rodeo boutique, Carroll and Co is like a landmark and CM Mecca.
