The time to buy is when you see it!  Don't think twice!  Probably not smart to drink and ebay...but i think I can do ok on these, they're wild

I aways bought first questions later from day 1, the list of regrets though? That is a tad lengthy...

What really tends to haunt me seeing what I missed. Watching that stack of records walk out the door with a copy of Hendrix's Electric Ladyland with the banned U.K. nude cover on top. Choosing to flip through one create of records while another guy digs through the one next to me and pulls out a mint original copy of the Velvet Underground w/ Nico (with the unpeeled banana sticker, no less). Choosing one end of a "New Arrival" rack and getting a few RLPL shirts while the flipper lady grabs a Loro Piana (actual LP mainline) cashmere coat right out from under my nose. I could go on and on. Painful, painful memories I tell ya.

You do seem to have bad luck with actually seeing what you missed out on. I rarely see anyone in the store walking around with something I'd want.

When I was first starting out I passed on a Zilli cashmere sport coat. baldy[1].gif

That was five years ago. The pain is still palpable.

Honestly I don't know how he deals with that. I've never seen any grail type item pulled in front of me or while I was in the store. The closest I got to that was a text from someone asking if it was me clearing out the racks at this one spot. It turned out that this certain location is where the super high end (and only true) consignment shop donates everything that isn't picked up a week after it's taken off the rack (shit only has 4 weeks to sell). Some guy literally came up on a rack full of Hermes, SLP, Givenchy, Lanvin, Cucinelli, LP, LV etc.. cuz that place only sells high fashion (strictly Rodeo shops). Just knowing that alone haunts me to this day....however I now know where they donate their shit so I guess there's a small upside.

Get into fight with girlfriend. Go for drive to blow off steam. Stop off at thrift shop, come home with Tod's Diana bag as peace offering.

Store was closing in 5 min, ran in and did a quick look over of shoes. Found a pair of these guys, in like new condition. Not the greatest score, but I'm not complaining for 3 minutes of my time. RL Polo Ranger boots. I don't even know the size yet as my wife has had me running around with her tonight. Edit: minty fresh size 12D. Anyone have anything they want to trade?

As for biggest miss or regret thrifting, there are a few but the most recent was about 10 Stefano Ricci Luxury ties that were like new. Saw them, had them all to myself, but not knowing what they were and thinking the tag looked like a wannabe luxury label, passed. For less than $5 each that makes me mad, as the very next day someone posted about the brand and I googled what I missed.

Most expensive miss? Legit Barcelona and Eames lounger. For $35 each. Guy knew what he was looking at and didn't let anyone else get within 5 feet of them as they got loaded on carts for pickup. Friend of a friend so I followed up to see if they were legit, but I already could tell they were. I hate that dude. tongue.gif

If someone beat me to something good, more power to them. Better show up earlier next time!

No regrets... Except for freaking myself out and grabbing gear on my last climbing route this evening. Yeah, no thrifting today.
