Two dollar sale yesterday so I grabbed a bunch of F/W stuff. I've been keeping more than usual lately but nothing is my size so I don't have to feel guilty. does anyone find it harder to thrift in spring/summer?

I really like it. I find that Armani Collezioni misses quite a bit, but every once in a while they get something just right.

What's the material?

There could be plenty of reasons to go MTM with Brioni.

and none of these are reasons I would go with brionifor MTM.
1. i dont like the cut of brioni OTR
2. id trust a lot of other folks to do a cut i like better
3. that wouldnt be a brag for me.
4. I asked mydad for a tie and he told me to eff off. lolz.

my original post was meant that I (me, derks, me personally) wouldnt ever pick brioni for mtm.

Wait did I miss something? This is not gren...

it is. see the leno twists in that weave? (look at the white yarns)

gren. it's not garza fina but it's some close variant.

I don't think that is gren either. Looks like a basket weave. Look at the close ups here none of them look like that tie. https://www.samhober.com/grenadine.htm
post #34706 of 50977

the pics aren't close up enough to tell for certain but i think the vanda and that pink tyrwhitt are the same fabric. if that's not gren then it's not gren. if it is then it is.

i really didn't mean to open this can of worms again because i'm not sure how constructive it really is, but for my purposes any tie that incorporates a leno weave and results in an open, textural, gauzy (garza = gauze = leno look it up) fabric is grenadine. idgaf about como. i don't care about fiber content. it's loomcraft. ymmv.

those vandas are really sweet ties. i'd consider them a bootleg gren which is frankly more exciting to me than dogma. i suspect the only reason they qualify them with air quotes is because they're loomed in japan.

What about Brioni's cut don't you like? Serious question; not being sarcastic.

They have multiple cuts, including their traditional "Roman shoulder" models and a soft shoulder model.

Also, has anybody seen Arbitrage with Richard Gere? Brioni did his suits for the movie, and did an amazing job in the process. Beats out TF for Bond in my opinion.

That's how you do a traditional cut, IMHO.
