I thrifted  a Avirex G-1 jacket today. The one I got is not the one Tom Cruise wore in Top Gun. Mine has 14 state patches and the lining does not have a map of Europe it names the 14 states. Google was not of any help either as I was unable to find this particular jacket. The quality seem very good and it would seem very silly to be knocking off a jacket like this I would think they would be knocking off the Tom Cruise jacket instead as it is the one that is the most popular, so I believe it is genuine. Has anyone here seen this particular Avirex  G-1 or know what it is or symbolizes?

Then this bad boy. Paid up and came in at about 12%, but it was worth it. Fits perfectly and also saved a few bucks via local pickup!
I'm seriously so stoked to rock this.

Haven't found much lately, though I couldn't really tell you if it's because the pickings are slim or because I only go out once in two weeks, if that.

From the past few months. Mostly NA.

No maker or fabric tag. Triple patch pocket, unlined, unstructured, dual vents. All pockets and vents basted shut. 42-43ish.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Rag & Bone black cotton, unlined, unstructured, 38. Nataku will remember this from our time thrifting together!

Funny timing: last night I was thinking about trading in my trust Canon 5dmkii for my dream Leica, since I really only ever use the Canon for eBay photos since I find it a bit annoying to lug around the large and heavy Canon. Pretty sure finding this today is a sign... so my trusty Canon an 24-105L is up for sale.

My 2 cents: I have a mkii and a mkiii, and I'm getting rid of both of them, as I got a Sony A7S.  Even though I can still use them as B and C cameras for video, I'm still selling them and getting another A7S.

Seriously, Leicas are pretty but A7S is like the only camera out there right now for my money.  Shoot in almost any light at any aperture or shutter; ISO 27,000 with almost zero noise.  Best all-around camera I've ever used.

Few things from this last week. I found myself complaining to myself the other day about how I wished the people in my city would spend more money on nicer clothes for me to then thrift...

bill and teds excellent adventure

Super soft and slightly minty Brioni corduroy pants

Naked & Famous selvedge

Nordstrom's Loro Piana 100% cashmere

Polo University Club DB dark green glen plaid. I got this for myself then decided its about 1" too narrow in the shoulders and a tiny bit too short in the sleeve. Bummer. It's really cool

PRL lambswool 1/4 zip x2 (it's 70 degrees here but IDGAF)

These 3 DB Samuelsohn MTM for the same dude in 3 different colors of pinstriping. Made with Loro Piana Super 110's & 120's. I bought the jackets then went back 2 days later because I had a hunch they weren't really orphans. I was able to reunite all three to make complete suits. We'll see if they sell at all but it felt cool to reunite all three!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Not clothing, but this is super-exciting for a collector like me. I found it in a flea market this morning. I'm getting it verified by an expert, but I think this is 19th Century. Jicky has been around since 1889, and this looks a heck of a lot like the original bottle. The juice still smells good too.

Well I've started closing out of it so they'd better fix it.

HEAR THAT FOK / mods? Please fix the stupid crashy ads thingy. Because I can't leave Styleforum open. And that kind of defeats the point.

Not quite the right thread, but... Anyone know of a resource to identify a Brioni fabric from the tag code. This suit looks a bit like a fresco weave but I'd like to be sure before I advertise it as such

Where did you get your torso/mannequin?

Thanks, such an incredibly nice thing to say.

I have five, 2 from members here, the other 3 thrifted over the course of the last 5 years.

Went to the local used media repository yesterday while I was out getting some cash and such.

2 cookbooks for myself, the Prada book is going to @DerekS for his little Ballette?(She-Baller?) His little girl.

Couple of these just because, the Peoples book is a really great look back. Left a few books because I was trying to be good, and 30$ in new-to-me books was enough for one trip.

this is super interesting... i wonder if folks are using the viewfinder or the LCD to compose?

i think any latency with a digital viewfinder would bother me to no end, but maybe it's not an issue? i dunno... you got me reading reviews now lol...
