And it was not that kind of hidden, more of a hidden for safe keeping and then forgetting about it.
Lets say you buy a painting and there is a envelope taped to the back with a shitload of cash type of scenario.
Anyway epic find if its legit im not gonna say more about it.

I can't imagine the events that proceeded a garment with an 8 carat diamond in the pocket being donated, but the one thing that is for sure is that it wasn't done on purpose. I'd feel like I needed to make an effort to reunite it with the real owner. If the owner isn't found, maybe your pal would get to keep it. Even if the owner was found, he probably gets a hefty reward. Plus, from a practical standpoint, what is he going to do with an 8 carat diamond? He can't exactly roll into Kay Jewelers to see how much they would give him for it.

Today was jacket day, found a cool vintage M65, a calfskin PRL, and this vintage army
thing. @Nataku is this anything? I've not seen anything like it. Made of super thick wool with really nice buttonholes. No tags anywhere.

Who said it was in a garment?
He can roll into a pawn shop and get half its value on the spot.
Sorry man ,I didnt find it and he will do what he wants with it but why should he feel the need to reunite it with soneone who can spend that kind of money on a fucking rock.
Should that Hockney print be rturned to that thriftshop and be told that its very valuable?
Or better yet...the owner?
Hell no.
Plus your making a lot assumptions, who says it wasnt found in an auction locker situation.
Im not gonna give deets because its not my find.
