Hi - new member of SF, although I've been lurking for a while, and I've been thrifting, not that it's called that in the UK, for most of my adult life.

No pictures I'm afraid, but I was in Northampton yesterday at the Edward Green factory sale and Mrs NickD and I spent the rest of the day looking round the charity shops. I picked up a cotton PRL beige jacked with patch pockets and a Boggi suit and as you would expect from Northampton there was a better quality of thrifted shoe, so a brand new pair of Crockett & Jones single monks needing a minor repair. She picked up a PRL shirt & couple of t shirts.

Came across part of an amazing Anglo-Trad wardrobe yesterday. Lots of Brooks and Henry Poole MTM (even reunited an orphan!) from the late 50s-mid 70s...all thrashed beyond wear or repair.

Did cop an awesome BB plaid with a Makers tag I've never seen and a made in USA Dickies chambray, neither of which are notable enough for photos.

Couple of standouts:

Welcome! There's a few of us from the UK posting regularly in here. We try our best to keep up with the US lot whos shops are huge and seemingly loaded with awesomeness.

I went to university in Northampton, say hi to the place for me.

Little haul. The Brooks looks like it was left in the sun but it was 50p. I'm going to try and make something out of it.

Huge shoutout to @ReubenR for an epic trade. Can't wait to break out this vintage thick leather Schott G1 bomber once it gets cold again. Fit is perfect and condition is exceptional.

PM sent.

Why do people need to announce to everyone that they sent a private message? The person receiving the message knows they got a message, why do we all need to know? And if it's supposed to mean you've called dibs...how do you know three people haven't PM'd before you anyway? And anyway the person can trade/sell to whomever they want regardless of chronological order of PMs, right?

What's the reasoning? Genuinely curious.
