Exactly. I do understand what folks consider to be timeless. I love the stuff... Hell, I just shipped a suit and a tuxedo. I understand perfectly well that the late 50s tux that I shipped is what SF considers timeless, and that a late 70s version of the same model would be considered shit around here.

Also, to suggest that I hate CM is a serious overstatement. I like the stuff, it's just not my every day style. I would stick out like a sore thumb wearing a suit around here. Patagonia and Filson? Not so much. And I am, and always have been more obsessed with build quality than outward appearance. It's why I drive a Subaru and appreciate the brands I do.

Hmmm, I read it differently, but maybe that's because every second post of his is some lament about how much he hates discussing classic menswear on a board that leans heavily in that direction.

Where are you seeing these comments? I haven't done that in a hell of a long time.

Just add me to your block list and be done with it. And return the Paradise Found shirt I sent you while you're at it if it makes you feel better.

It's ironic that someone who is studying fashion doesn't get this.

fwiw this is what i read as well... "timeless" today, hopelessly out-of-step tomorrow. it's always fun to look at any "futurist" design of the past, so often it reads as quaint and naive today (but still, worthwhile!). same phenomenon. imo the pendulum is a big reason why thrifting works at all.

hey benefit of the doubt, ya know?
